I don't even begin to pretend to apply the idea of JDM to my 510. It was sold new in OKC and spent almost all it's life in Comanche, Oklahoma. I drove it to Wichita Falls, Texas last weekend and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the first time it had been out of the state since it was imported into the U.S.
It's got a build date of April 1980 and a sold new date of May 1980 so it spent maybe two months in it's native Japan and the following three decades in Oklahoma. It's very much an American car that just happens to be of Japanese ancestry.
I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have skinny JDM type bumpers on it but I really don't even really think of it as a Japanese car. I put more emphasis on the Nostalgic aspect than the Japanese part I guess.
