Hi Guys - There is a possibility of me moving to Houston and wanted to know how well do your Datsuns hold up to the Houston climate. Most of my friends seem to think there is a high percentage of moisture AND salt in the air that will be hard on the car (I have two Zs and a perfect and original '67 1600 Datsun Roadster). I argued differently....what is the feedback from residents in Houston?
Thanks for your feedback.
Yasin

It can be a problem, worse the closer you live to the coast. If you're up in the Woodlands/Katy areas, I wouldn't worry too much. Lots of rust problems further south in Galveston/Pasadena.

Where in the Houston area would you be moving?

I live out in Katy,TX (Suburb of Houston). I keep all my Datsuns (Roadsters) in my Garage in Katy and have no issues with rust. I see very, very few cars with any rust problems in Katy.

I agree with John, that by the coast there will be even greater humidity w/salt. Though it is fairly humid during the summer in Houston, if your cars are stored properly, it should not be a major issue.

Yes, I bought a 510 from Baytown that was properly stored and it had zero rust. Saw 10-15 year old cars right down the street from his house that were parked outdoors all year round that had fist-sized rust holes in them.
