Which one? The R34?

My first car ever. 1981 Datsun 210. Bought about 4 years ago for $500 ($250 UDS) Started out with just bodywork, respray and a manual transmission swap. Went on to get some 13" wheels and an A15 engine swap. Still own it and right now it's completely stripped down to a rolling shell to get some proper bodywork and paint done.


Next up was a 1970something Datsun B210. Was looking for a car to trash about and maybe do some autocross events in. Remembered that this was selling on a local forum a while back so I messaged the seller and he said to just come for it and drive it away. Went the very next day with gas, battery, coolant, brake fluid and four tires and drove it away for free. Had a lot of fun with this car. Ended up selling it to some friends of mine for $600. Too bad they ended up wrecking it.


About a year ago some friends and I were looking for an old rwd car to slide around my friends plantation gravel and dirt roads so we all chipped in and bought this Lancer. Body's still in semi decent shape but it's proved to be one of the most unreliable cars around. (previous owner didn't treat it too nicely) We still have it but we've spent more time working on it than actually driving it lol.


Here's another Lancer which I got for free from a guy my father knows. Was just for spare parts for the white Lancer since the body was pretty much disintegrating and separating at the seams. Still ended up driving it a bit though.


That's it so far. Gotta say though, some of you guys have some impressive lists.

I now have a new one to add... I sold the 72 super and bought a...

1993 Mazda mx3 with 197,000 miles on it. So far I'm liking it, and I plan to keep it for quite a while if it's willing to hold together.

Skyrine- Yea, the black R34 in the motion shot. A lot of people use some kind of camera rig for those shots, I was just wondering if that's what you did. Me, I'd have to hang my heavy butt out a window, while my wife drove and hung onto my belt

Haha yeah, it was a friend of mine hanging out the window, he was just messing around before we went to do a real shoot, he normally uses a rig that mounts on the car and the car rolls at a very slow walking pace. Check out his site.

Nice Do you do shoots with him often? If so I'm wondering if you have any helpful tips, I've got a friend with a 74 Mazda REPU that he agreed to let me shoot, and I'm hoping to get one of those moving shots. I don't have a camera rig, or photoshop though.

That would be tough, to capture the motion you need to slow the shutter speed down a bit or use photo shop, but without a rig, you would have to have very still hands haha. Id try messing around a bit and see what you can get. Photo shop can help a lot to. But i am no photographer, you could email my friend and he could probably give you some pointers. He is a nice guy. Tell him Ryan told you to ask him.

@topic: I bought my first car (a '89 pignose 200sx w/ broken engine) about a month ago. A friend and I towed it 150+ km to get it home. I didn't really do anything to get it running since, although I did buy a new motor for it (a stock ca18det). I should really to get this thing running...

Towing it:

Skyrine-I'll give it a try, but my computer is jacked up right now, it decided it doesn't want a cd rom drive anymore, and it doesn't handle downloads to well. It likes to laugh at me and spit in my face quite often If it keeps messing with my JNC I'll have to go all postal on it

As far as the driving really fast thing goes..........

1. 1964 Datsun NL320: Bought when I was 10 years old for $50. Held on to it for 13 years and it is now my current project.


2. 1977 Datsun 280z: Payed $125, spent a year getting it running and fixed up and when I got my license, I had troubles getting it insured so I sold it.


3. 1986 Ford Ranger: Bought from brother who already lowered it 5-6. I bodydropped it 4", swapped a turbocoupe engine in it with 18 psi boost, caddy tails, cowl hood to fit engine.


4. 1986 Mazda B2000: Bought someones project and finished it. Rebuilt the engine, finished the 3.5" bodydrop, redid the interior, etc.


5. 1993 Chevy Beretta Z26: not much done to it. Reassured that I hate FWD cars

6. 1972 Datsun 510 2-door: Got it running and drove it for a while before I realized it was too far gone to continue.


7. 1994 Mazda 626: Got it for free, drove for a while and traded for a 1986 B2000

8. 1986 Mazda B2000: Weber carb, redid the interior and sold it.

9. 1964 Datsun L320: Bought it the same day I sold my only running vehicle. It sat for 7 years previously so it took a lot of work to get it going but drove it to work the next day. It became my daily driver as I slowly went through it. Sold it to buy a house.

10. 1972 Datsun 1200: Paid $100, replaced the interior, wet sanded and buffed paint, new wheels


11. 1983 VW GTI: Traded 1972 1200 for it. Coilovers, big throttle body, strut bar, very fun car to drive


12. 1989 Chevy S10: Current daily driver and parts runner. Lowered 4-5", suede interior, 2-tone satin paint, 4.3L, flowmaster exhaust, air shocks.
