My first car ever. 1981 Datsun 210. Bought about 4 years ago for $500 ($250 UDS) Started out with just bodywork, respray and a manual transmission swap. Went on to get some 13" wheels and an A15 engine swap. Still own it and right now it's completely stripped down to a rolling shell to get some proper bodywork and paint done.
Image

Next up was a 1970something Datsun B210. Was looking for a car to trash about and maybe do some autocross events in. Remembered that this was selling on a local forum a while back so I messaged the seller and he said to just come for it and drive it away. Went the very next day with gas, battery, coolant, brake fluid and four tires and drove it away for free. Had a lot of fun with this car. Ended up selling it to some friends of mine for $600. Too bad they ended up wrecking it.
Image

About a year ago some friends and I were looking for an old rwd car to slide around my friends plantation gravel and dirt roads so we all chipped in and bought this Lancer. Body's still in semi decent shape but it's proved to be one of the most unreliable cars around. (previous owner didn't treat it too nicely) We still have it but we've spent more time working on it than actually driving it lol.
Image

Here's another Lancer which I got for free from a guy my father knows. Was just for spare parts for the white Lancer since the body was pretty much disintegrating and separating at the seams. Still ended up driving it a bit though.

That's it so far. Gotta say though, some of you guys have some impressive lists. :tu:

ok, let,s see...
76 Opel by Isuzu (was my mom's but it blew up and I wanted it, so she gave it to me) rebuilt the engine in my bedroom, got it running, my friend convinced me to have the head ported, so I took it off, lost interest, and decided to try sticking a chevy 2.8 v6 in. Never did get to drive the car, owned it for over 10 years and finally decided I was doing nothing with it, so I scrapped it. Still kicking myself to this day.

77 Toyota Corolla station wagon - had some weird overheating problem, never did figure it out, traded the car in. Almost bought another one recently...

At some point in here somewhere I bought an old (75?) Monte Carlo for $50 out of a guy's backyard. My friend and I tried to tow it home, but realized it had no brakes, so we left it on the curb in front of the house. I came back a week later with a tow truck, and the car was gone. Still had to pay the tow truck $40. My $90 mistake.

83 Dodge Omni - bought for $50, needed front end work and a clutch cable, never did it, just traded the car in.

81(?) Renault LeCar (yes, the ragtop) - never got it running right, can't remember right now what became of the car.

84 Honda Prelude - bought for $1500, the Corolla and the Omni were the down payment for this one, ran smooth even though it had probably over 250,000 miles on it (odometer died at 224,xxx), burned/leaked a quart of oil a week, fun to do reverse donuts in the snow. Actually decent off-road :P oh, yeah, the tranny blew the same week I paid it off. I didn't want to change it, so I sold the car to a friend (who roped me into helping him change the tranny)

94 Hyundai Excel - damn good car. Beat the sh!t out of it and it got 30-33 mpg in town. Had it for 5 years, lots of memories. I'd have another one. Donated it when I couldn't get it to pass emmissions anymore. I think the computer was just going out.

96 Isuzu Rodeo - bought it because we were planning a family, but it was too hard on gas, so I traded it in for a...

2001 Pontiac Grand Am - nice to have something newer like that, had it for abut 5 years, but I couldn't afford to keep up the payments, so I sold it.

69 Volkswagen Beetle - rusted!!! I think I was just excited to buy my first bug, and I didn't know what to look for. Drove it for 2 years, then pulled the engine and scrapped the car.

72 Volkswagen Super Beetle - current daily driver for the last ~4 months. So far, it's ok, but I'm realizing that I don't like the way they're put together, and I want to trade it for an Opel by Isuzu so I can get it right this time.

I know I'm forgetting something, I thought I had more than that...

I now have a new one to add... I sold the 72 super and bought a...

1993 Mazda mx3 with 197,000 miles on it. So far I'm liking it, and I plan to keep it for quite a while if it's willing to hold together.

Skyrine- Yea, the black R34 in the motion shot. A lot of people use some kind of camera rig for those shots, I was just wondering if that's what you did. Me, I'd have to hang my heavy butt out a window, while my wife drove and hung onto my belt

Haha yeah, it was a friend of mine hanging out the window, he was just messing around before we went to do a real shoot, he normally uses a rig that mounts on the car and the car rolls at a very slow walking pace. Check out his site.

Nice :tu: Do you do shoots with him often? If so I'm wondering if you have any helpful tips, I've got a friend with a 74 Mazda REPU that he agreed to let me shoot, and I'm hoping to get one of those moving shots. I don't have a camera rig, or photoshop though. :)

That would be tough, to capture the motion you need to slow the shutter speed down a bit or use photo shop, but without a rig, you would have to have very still hands haha. Id try messing around a bit and see what you can get. Photo shop can help a lot to. But i am no photographer, you could email my friend and he could probably give you some pointers. He is a nice guy. Tell him Ryan told you to ask him.

Screw slow shutterspeeds! Just drive real fast :P.

@topic: I bought my first car (a '89 pignose 200sx w/ broken engine) about a month ago. A friend and I towed it 150+ km to get it home. I didn't really do anything to get it running since, although I did buy a new motor for it (a stock ca18det). I should really to get this thing running...

Towing it:

Skyrine-I'll give it a try, but my computer is jacked up right now, it decided it doesn't want a cd rom drive anymore, and it doesn't handle downloads to well. It likes to laugh at me and spit in my face quite often  If it keeps messing with my JNC I'll have to go all postal on it

As far as the driving really fast thing goes..........

5. 1993 Chevy Beretta Z26: not much done to it. Reassured that I hate FWD cars

6. 1972 Datsun 510 2-door: Got it running and drove it for a while before I realized it was too far gone to continue.

7. 1994 Mazda 626: Got it for free, drove for a while and traded for a 1986 B2000

8. 1986 Mazda B2000: Weber carb, redid the interior and sold it.

9. 1964 Datsun L320: Bought it the same day I sold my only running vehicle. It sat for 7 years previously so it took a lot of work to get it going but drove it to work the next day. It became my daily driver as I slowly went through it. Sold it to buy a house.

Let me get started on this... not in any certain order

1968 Dodge Dart GTS 440(sold to friend's uncle... VERY cheap, now I kick myself) :(
1975 Chevy Monza Town Coupe( had a small V8... that lil POS flew)
1976 Cadillac Coupe de Ville( raised the rear end, by air shock valve behind the license plate... poor thing, broadsided by an 18 wheeler, driven by a guy who rented it, and gave a fake ID... I just got the car outta the transmission shop, after installing a new tranny, also on my way to a job interview) :(
1975 Lincoln Town Coupe( had a pair of vice grips for the tranny shifter) :P
1975 Cadillac Sedan de Ville(MINT shape... killed the engine, racing a Plymouth Roadrunner, on our way to New Years' Eve party)
1979 Mercury Zephyr( had a CB antennae on the back... all the people in the projects, thought it was a Narc car, and would clear the streets... HAHAA) :P

1980 Mazda GLC
1977 Plymouth Arrow( got rid of, due to broken tie rod)
1983 Mercury Cougar LS(black/red interior classy ride, my mom's car, but I drove it alot... when I could):)

1975 Toyota Corona( yellow lemon drop... drove thru a deep puddle during heavy rainstorm... shorted out the whole car)
1972 Ford Thunderbird Landau( had the pimp opera lamp bar on the roof... also had a 428 CobraJet engine... car conked out, towed by cops... found out the dealer didn't run the VIN, to find out it was previously STOLEN... idiot)
1973 AMC Hornet( ugly but trusty straight 6... was making a turn into my neighborhood, then totalled the nose on a brand new Accord(86-89)... well it was new, back in 89. lol)
1979 black Pontiac Grand Le Mans coupe(one of my most RELIABLE cars... my modern day GTO... wish I can find another, loved that car) :)
1978 auburn Pontiac Le Mans coupe( bought it off my friend, needed new battery... when I came back to the car, my friend's bitchy wife had it towed) :(

1972 Pontiac Le Mans Sport( had 400 engine and Trans Am snowflake rims, ran great and looked great, the brakes were too much to pay for, so sold it)

I've had numerous JDM rims and parts with that car(Celica Supra rims, Baby Supras, Libra rims, Etoile gold mesh, Epsilon mesh, ARE 5 star rims, Enkeis, ET mags and Western wheels)... owned it for 3 years, always reliable :)
1983 Toyota Corolla SR5 1.6 hardtop coupe(bought from a junkyard as a parts car for my 82 SR5... it had a nice fancy blue paint job with pink wave pinstripes, but no rims... oh well)

1984 AE86 Toyota Corolla SR5(bought from original owner... a girl from California, who drove it cross country... I lowered it, JDMized it, and it also came with old school Gotti wheels... I sold it for 3 times what I paid for it) :)
