So we're having record-breaking temperatures here in Portland, Oregon. I decided to not drive my daily driver to work (AE86) but instead drive a 70s car. Seems crazy, huh. The main reason is my Corolla is black. Number two, you know all the fake scoops and vents on the early cars? Well, they really work! Remember Toyota bragging about 'flow-thru ventilation' or whatever? It's true! Fresh air barely wanders through my AE86. Today I drove my Datsun 1200 with the wing windows pointed inwards, it was great!
I guess what I'm trying to say is I love my old cars.

Funny, it barely cracked 80 here today, and it's been raining off and on all week.

Someone must have switch our weather when we weren't looking. :P

I need to fix the wing windows on the Hako, they're a bit too loose and flop back to the closed position once the car gets moving. Hmm...maybe jam some nylon washers in the hinges or something?

Once we hit the aussie summer I think we will need to find a solution :)

DF you have that right! we have the heat AND the humidity that should be down there lol. I am staying in the basement with the ac on and freezing my butt off. But I gotta say this I like driving modern cars for DD cause ac is a godsend.

And littlejason I am Big Jason lol, my name is Jason also and I am 6'4 lol.

We're having record heat in the Seattle area, too. I rode my old XS11 to work, and it was like sitting in front of a car heater on full blast. 100 degree air at 70 mph isn't comfortable in the least. I can't imagine my old air-cooled engine was enjoying it, either.

What surprises me is that the main strem media is just now telling us about how wide spread the heat is. It's incredibly vast over serveral states.

Guess I'll go throw some ice in my face.

See you all around.

Don't rub it in. :P

Today was lovely, low 80s for a high and light rain this morning. Beats the heck out of the usual end of July 100+ temps we normally see. 8)

I've been riding around in my dad's 1980 Toyota truck lately. With all the windows down and the the wing windows in it's actually pretty dang cool. It also helps that it's white.

I don't even pay attention to the numbers anymore but it's always hot. With the humidity the heat index gets around 100* in the middle of the day most of the time.

After all these years, I am use to riding around with windows down in the heat.

I long for the day when I can afford some old cars I've actually owned in the past. It's a great feeling contemplating it and praying the dream will come true, and then driving them on various occasions.
