I'm just trying to find more info on this. I've stumbled upon a stripped B210 shell with flares molded onto it that the owner insists was a Hot Rod magazine cover car. He doesn't know when, doesn't have the cover, and it wasn't his at the time, he just insists he knows it was and used to have the magazine.

I'm just wondering. No pics yet, I'll try to get some.

I find that slightly hard to believe... :?

Even when Hot Rod had a 510 project car it never once graced the cover.

I know Hot Rod did have a 240z on their cover. It was the Super Shops giveaway car. It had a B&M supercharged small block in it with alot of custom bodywork and interior. I've got copies of the entire build series but, alas..no scanner.

Hot Rod featured quite a few imported cars back in the mid-70s, and I think that's where I scanned this pic from...

I have the full article out in the shed, I'll try and remember to bring it in. Looks good, whether it made the cover or not!

Those flares look about right...

Yeah, let me know if you can find it. :tu: It's a '75, if that helps line it up at all either. Looking at the engine bay, it was a white car too.

Wow, it does look like that's the car. It's always cool to find things like that.

Haha, I was gonna tell you, but I see you found it already.

Yeah, there's also one through another dude with a website that sells every issue of Hot Rod, well, EVER, and he wanted $7 for it.

Any chance the car still has it's original engine? If so, it's worth the asking price alone.

According to the article it was built by a shop in El Segundo for the Datsun Competition department, and taken around to car shows all across the country in 1976.

Back when it was first built, it was probably the baddest B210 in the US. The engine had everything done to it possible for an A14, making 125hp on the dyno (consider stock is around 68hp). It also had a Datsun Competition 5spd trans installed, Koni shocks, and tons of other cool stuff.

It even had A/C... :P

Dunno, could find out.

You want it? I dig it.. but I'd HAVE to put a JDM front end and bumpers on it if it were mine. I hate the US grille with a deep passion. And I'd probably paint it navy blue or dark green. It'd be better off with someone who wants to restore it to it's former glory than someone like me who wants a blank canvas.

Could you scan the article?
