Hey JNC,
Can someone help me figure out how to navigate Japan's auctions (Yahoo, &c)? I know there's lots of sites out there that promise to do this for me (japamart.com, easyauctionjapan.com, jauce.com), but none will return any results for me. I'll use them to search for 'MS55' 'Crown' and there'll be nothing listed, but if I page through the auctions manually I'll come across things like this that should have been a search hit.

Am I doing something wrong, or all they all this iffy?

try using google translate and translate the words into Japanese and use that in your searches. Or try looking at the original text in Japanese and cut and paste into translate and figure out the word combinations that they use describing what you are looking for and use those words in Japanese for your search. I hope that makes sense.

Ive found that sometimes when translating pages on YAJ via google, you are ridirected to yahoo main page. Its hit and miss really, some bugs in their system.

Searching yahoo auctions can be pretty rough. I suggest downloading Google chrome for its auto translate feature. Pretty much everything is done by only chassis code so you are going to have to do your research about chassis code interchangeability. Thanks guys; ya, translating "toyota" "crown" to Japanese "トヨタの王冠" and searching for that helps a bit, but there's still stuff that only comes up when you're browsing page to page. I guess it doesn't help that there's maybe two or three Crowns on there... Google Chrome is a good idea; going to try that next.

Building on the good info above, Toyota Crown is トヨタ クラウン, your トヨタの王冠 is unfortunately 'Toyota's Royal Headgear'. Unlikely perhaps to return anything, at least on YAJ. Also, when selecting your input field, it helps to use the 'Car / Motorcycle' drop down to the immediate right (自動車、オートバイ). Thus you get:

aaah hilarious!! Hehe; thanks for all the pointers.

Also clicking "画像を大きく" with the little icon of 4 squares next to it puts it in image view. Add that with changing the number of listings per page to 100 makes browsing quick and easy.

i use google chrome and it works fine besides the shit translation haha
