Well this past weekend I took OkieRA29 up on his invitaiton up to come up and go junkyard hunting with him. Here is a little documentation of the trip.

Here is the Winstar Casino

Image

The Arbuckle mountains.

Taken outside OkieRA29's shop.

Image

Finally we get to the salvage yard. Here are some various ZX's.

Image

One of a handful of MX73's.

Image

I saw more 620's there than I had seen in years.

Image

Image

Some Celicas and a couple of Supras.

Image

Image

If you can figure out what this is let us know, none of us could.

Image

Early Corona coupe.

Image

Image

A TE71 Corolla liftback. It still had it drivetrain and all.

Image

A decent first gen Supra.

Image

There was alot more there. There was a whole section that had some Hondas, Nissans and a couple of Mazdas and Mitsubishis but we ran out of time to take more pics.

Holy crap, I can't believe some of the cars you just straight-up throw away out there. We'd kill for stuff like that in the Northeast. Heartbreaking. Cool pictures though!

Early German NSU Prinz. From the same company that made the fabulous rotary (er..Wankel) engined NSU Ro80.

It did still have it's rear engine. It was an itty bitty thing. The hood for it was laying inside. The only problem was that the floor was pretty much all rotted away.

If you can make a roadtrip, they do sell whole cars quite often.

Some might have titles, some may not. It would all depend on how the yard came to own them. Most likely, you would have to get a salvage title for them. Not hard in Oklahoma to do. I don't know about how it would be in other states

Did this one have a tan interior?

I'm looking for a few pieces unique to the 79 (which this is)

I work in insurance claims, I'm not allowed to own salvaged cars. :(

I don't believe that a title 42 shows up as a salvage title. I will ask when I go to get my celica titled in the next couple of weeks. They use it at the auto auctions and in cases of lost titles. So it may not show up as a salvage title. I will let you know what the tag agency tells me.

That supra does have a tan interior, but it is pretty roasted. If you are looking for plastic pieces, those will be most likely ok.

One MAJOR correction, Dave wanted me to let everybody know that the shop is actually his, but I am more than welcome to pay the property taxes.

Yeah. You can imagine how it could potentially be a conflict of interest, though. Just means I have to look harder to find stuff is all. I've only owned 8 cars in my lifetime, and none of them have been salvage vehicles.

Where is this yard if you don't mind posting it publicly? I just bought an 83 Corolla and I'm looking for a parts car. Any other suggestions on where to look off of the internet? I've searched about everything online I can think of.

It is just east of OKC. I did a day trip and went there with OkieRA29. They had one TE72 that I remember. It might have some parts you could use on your car.
