One of my hobbies is building model cars. I have well over 150 to 200 unbuilt model cars, about 80% are Toyotas. At this point there are not many Toyotas models I don't have. I am slowly building them, but I seem to buy more than I build. It always seems to be that way with model builders. Anyway here are A few of the classic japanese models I have built.

If anyone has a suggestions on what you would like to see me build next, let me know.

That Toyota 2000GT is really sweet looking! I would vote for a Fairlady ZG or a Daruma Celica.

Great Work!! That 2000GT is gorgeous! I was wondering how long it would take before MechaDoc was mentioned, lol. The Celica XX is terrific, do you have a built one?

Awesome work! I don't have the patience or hand-eye coordination to put one of those together.

Beautiful work Jeff!

I know you've shared a lot of your kits (built & unbuilt) on my Yahoo! Group. I've got a few models, but immediately realized I don't have the money or space to buy everything - between my diecast (mostly 1:43 scale - probably over 300 cars, 95% Toyota), minicars (mostly Tomica - 200+), and assorted other Toyota collectables!

Keep up the good work & continue to share it with us!

Alex, I don't have these (yet). That photo is either Graham's or Rosso's from the CS.com forum. I only posted it to show what I was talking about. They show up from time to time on the Japanese auctions. And like I said before, Mecha Doc's complete series is $300. I can't swing that for anime. I need paint before I buy cartoons.

That'll come out to just over $300 by the time you get it and have it shipped over here.

I too share this affliction.

Some of my current (seemingly endless) projects....

Tamiya hakosuka, S20 ditched and I'm fitting an L-series - lets pretend its a 3.1 L28 - with triple carbs turned bellmouths, metal distributor and wiring, headers and sidepipes etc. Wheels are Fujimi 345 RS-Watanabes. Front lip, fender flares and headlight blanks are custom from styrene and squadron putty. Its become a very protracted project as I want it RIGHT.

Aoshima RN30 Hilux
I'm building this one as sort of a "shop truck/demo car" for a fictional tuner. Its lowered, wearing Aoshima Longchamp XR4s with stretched rubber. I've modified the tailgate and rear panel so it now opens as per the prototype. I made a toolbox to go in the back, and I'm building a detailed S20 (metal bellmouths, distributor and wiring etc) which will be on a balsa wood pallet in the back as a "load".
Its going to be metallic silver, perhaps with SR5 striping, and lots of old skool tuner decals on the rear window and rear flanks.
I have a soft spot for these old Hiluxes, we had one with an 18R-G years ago.

Got a few other projects like a Gr. 5 R30 Super Silhouette skyline super detail build.

I love that RN30 I also have one of those, just haven't got around to building it yet. Your skyline looks fantastic. I glad your taking your time and getting all the details right. That celica LB that tosco posted is hard to find. I got mine about a year ago on ebay. Here is my latest buy. I ordered this from Hobby Link Japan. It was my first order. I now have 2 TE27 corollas on order now as well as a the Garage Sift drift corolla. I will soon be ordering about 4 to 5 more of the new corolla w/engine.

Yeah those Aoshima AE86's are an awesome kit. I'm building one as a copy of a mate's car, even managed to get the correct style of rims.

I ordered a 1/20 BJ40 Landbruiser kit today. I might get another RN30 kit while they're still available and build a raised 4x4 version.

Damn, worse than some hard drugs, this modelling addiction...

Those are some awsome kits guys. The enw 86's kits are pretty neat. Anything with a detailed engine is cool. Once I get a few pics of my recent stuff I will post them. Im building a 69 Z432 (PS30) right now...

Well my model club had there big contest over the weekend. It was good, not quite as many entries as usual but anyway. I did pick up a couple of new kits here is one I think everyone will like. I have some interesting plans for it.

Is that RX7 from the same series as the 280Z and TR7? Smaller than usual box, not much detail? Having said that, I did once compare the Z's shell with a Fujimi one on my shelf and they look quite close.

This is what I currently have awaiting construction, one notional day in the future when I have nothing better to do or the children are old enough to maybe want to build one with me....

Image

The Ariel box contains my previous attempts which await somewhere to display them, including a Nostalgic Hero E10 X1-R, plus broken ones for salvage of bits.

Even though I'm somewhat out of the habit of building them, I much prefer buying kits to die-casts, the Japanese-made ones in particular are such a joy to put together.

Wow, awesome collection there. I'd LOVE an AMT 280ZX Turbo and the Tamiya HR30 GT-ES, bastard :P
