    USA Mitsu/Dodge/Plymouth Sapporo R

    Been a lurker for a long time, but recently I spotted an abnormal car in my hometown. I have only been able to pass by it...No exam. Jet black, well kept, but doesn't look it has been driven in a while. All I managed to see was "Sapporo R" written on the tail lenses. Guessing it is a Dodge Sapporo? I have personally never seen one before? RWD? 4g63? What came in these? Worth looking into? The car is located in Middle GA, usa.

    It's a Galant Lambda, sold here as a captive import under the name "Plymouth Sapporo" or "Dodge Challenger."

    But, then I remember that you got 2.6L widebody Starions and get jealous again. lol :P

    Both of those are Australian-market Mitsubishi Scorpions, hence the minor visual differences to the US-market Plymouth Sapporo/Dodge Challenger. Basically a 4th gen Galant hardtop (or 3rd gen, in the case of the second example).

    They're RWD with G54B power, and IMO yes, worth looking into. Plenty of torque, handle reasonably well and they aren't a bad looking car. Might be hard to get parts for though, as from what I understand they're pretty rare over there.
    That said, pretty much everything bar the IRS (Sapporo/Challenger are live axle) can be taken from a Starion, and is an upgrade to boot. So mechanically it's easy. It's stuff like interior bits, body panels etc that are a pain.
    Also, properly tall folks might have an issue with headroom, I'm 6'5 and my head clears the roof in mine by less than half an inch. Starion seats and rails bolt in, and drop the seating position by an inch or so.

    TSi, yes, the vehicle looks identical to your car, add gloss black paint, gold spoke wheels, and the badges removed. I spoke with the owner's father, and he said that his son had owned the car for years, and would never dream of selling it. Sad case, as the car's clearcoat is beginning to peel, and it has a flat tire. I fear it won't move again for years to come. Very interesting beast though.

    that is a bummer. THey are quite fun to drive and slide with a starin g54b turbo swap.

    I'm tempted to toss the turbo engine back in mine.

    I gotta agree with j, even the flat aussies lights I have look 10x better

    I'd kill for a set of the late model ones that always crack. I wonder if you can still buy those new...
