    Fire arrow tach into a LB lancer

    Figured I would show this. Took a tach and gauges from a 79 firearrow and tossed it in my 1978 lancer. I havent mounted the fuel or temp gauge yet, and my memorys tick is giving me trouble right now so I will post it up later. Anyhow, 8k tach. Sure is nicer than the factory gas and water temp gauge.

    Looks good. :tu:

    Did your Lancer already have the 100 MPH speedo in it? That's really cool... my FA and most of the others I've seen only have 85 MPH speedometers.

    Eric's '78 Arrow and my Arrow both have 100 MPH speedos. Probably stock for all 1978 Lancers.

    I purchased my first Arrow new off of the lot. It was a '78 model and it had an 85 MPH speedometer.

    Perhaps it comes down to the time of the year that they were built. I don't know.

    They, (Mitsubishi), would have had to have used different gearing on the speedometer/cable/tranny to make the 100 MPH speedometer "reasonably accurate" as well. Interesting.

    Might only be on cars with the right combination of trim level and year. City Hunter's Colt has it and it's a base coupe, Eric and I both have it on our Arrow GS's, and there's a 1976 Arrow 160 near me that has it, so I think the 100 mph speedo is favored by the lower trim level cars.

    Might've been phased out by 1979 though, because that blue 1979 Arrow GS that was sold on craigslist a couple weeks ago didn't have a 100 mph speedometer.

    Weird... Joyce's '78 GT has a 100 MPH speedo.:roll:

    My first '78 was a basic "Arrow hatchback coupe." It was bare-bone, bottom-of-the-line trim level and didn't even have carpeting. It's a wonder that they even bothered to put a speedometer in it - or needed to with the 1600 4-speed. :lol:

    I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to it. :?

    I do know that the 85 MPH speedo is a joke. "Pegged" comes on all too quick, (is that possible?! - I'm not complaining.), in the FA... the needle goes at about the same rate as the one on the tach! :tu:

    yeah it was stock. Also has a thinner needle than the 79 gauge. The 79 firearrow cluster I picked up only had a 85mph speedometer.

    I should mention to make it fit we had to actually unbolt and cut the wires off the back of the tach thenm remount the board and extend the wires to outside the cluster housing to make the tach fit. Everything from teh arrow is slightly different unfortunately.

    On the topic of Speedo's here in the Philippines we got 2 types;

    1976 Got a 200KM/H speedo and 1977-79 got a 180 KM/H speedo. I'll look for pics to share..
