    Here's my '78 Arrow

    Just like the title says.
I'll get more pics of it in the next few days maybe.
I traded a set of tires for it in "un-operable" condition. Wouldn't start, battery was low, missing a plug wire, coil had a paperclip holding the - terminal on, brakes bled down quick, battery terminals were all falling apart, someone "installed" a stereo, one tire was flat the others had about 10psi, oil was gassy, interior lights didn't work, one of four runner lights worked, right turn signal stayed on solid, and it had this "nsty tuning" sticker on the side.

So, I charged the battery and replaced the terminals, replaced some bulbs, replaced the broken coil, installed new plugs and wires I had set aside for my '85 or '87 Conquests, bled the brakes and replaced the vacuum check valve with one from one of my quests, removed the stereo that wasn't even connected from the hole that someone melted out of the dash, filled the tires with air, changed the oil, set the timing to 10, and removed the "nsty tuning" sticker.

So far so good. but she shoots a pop out the exhaust after a couple seconds after I shut her down, and it kind of diesels after a ~10minute highway drive at 55mph. Plugs look clean/gray/lean, wires are new, timing is on. My brother brought me a service manual, so I'm digging into that now.

I'll have more updates / pics later on.

Ahhhh, cuteness!!! (I love the '76-'78 round headlight cars!) Congratulations! :tu:

Retard the vacuum advance on the distributor a little and that may cure your backfire/deiseling problem.

    Yes, from Kokomo, In.

Fire, If I retard it anymore than 10 it will idle weird.

Hooked up the wideband, after removing the "cat" and fixing exhaust leaks.
    Cold start idle-9:1
    Cold start idle in gear-14:1
    Cold start cruise-13.7:1
    Cold start WOT-13.5:1
    Warmed up idle-20+:1
    Warmed up idle in gear-15:1
    Warmed up cruise-15:1
    Warmed up WOT-13.9:1

Adjusting idle enrichment doesn't effect idle enrichment or cruise, or anything. So it seems I need a carb rebuild/cleanup.
Also, during cruising I get lean surges to 17:1, no issues under WOT.
I'm going to change the fuel filter and maybe convert to an electric pump at the same time.
It doesn't pop so loud after shutdown with no "cat" thing. Still pops though.

When I still had the Saturn motor in my coupe I had some problems with carbon build up. It was a pretty tired motor.
The carbon was "glowing" and causing pinging (or i think you call it knocking) plus dieseling or run on after you shut it down.

I used a fuel additive made by Wynn's but I can't quite remember what it was called. But it cleared out the carbon build up and helped a bit. Engine was still pretty toast but it didn't ping anymore.

What are you plans for it?

I'm going to stuff the things from this: http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/inde ... opic=60751
    into it.
I also have a Ford 9" fabricated housing with a nodular center and spool with 4.56 gears.
Basically I don't want to back half my quest to make it handle the power that motor is making.
I'm going to mess around with it in stock form for a while before I do all that though.

anyways, went for a spirited drive today to push some seafoam through the motor to see if that will straighten out my lean surges on cruise.
