Wasn't there a story a month ago about Conan's move from New York to Los Angeles to take over as host of the Tonight Show, and he explained that when he got to California, he had to buy his first car, he knew nothing about cars, he stated in his own words that he bought a piece of junk, and wasn't the model something like a Mercury Topaz?
Not a car guy, doesn't care about cars, from an urban environment based on subways, probably shouldn't have a license, and yet another reason not to bother with late night talk shows now that Jay Leno is not on the Tonight Show.
^ but conan is the balls.
Actually he has a Ford Taurus SHO edition, manual 5sp. He's been talking about this car for over 10 years now.
I saw him on the cover of some magazine at the supermarket checkout line years ago. He was leaning on a Shelby GT350 Mustang (or perhaps just a regular fastback) and the story was about him being a car fan.
I think the whole "don't know anything" act is just that, an act. A Yamaha-powered SHO isn't your run-of-the-mill grocery getter.
I would enter the Cressida in that contest, its pretty much on its last legs anyway and fairly well rotted. Then I would sell the prize car and build the most bad ass Cressida ever in memorium of my current one
A Taurus SHO is somewhat less collectible than would be expected to be the pride and joy of someone with as high a paycheck as a talkshow host on a national network. And that is a rather stock looking, averagely maintained example pictured above.Originally Posted by tkmedia
I've said that there are more bad drivers than there are bad cars, and without really ripping on the car, the performance version of a somewhat cheaply made family car, is still a somewhat cheaply made family car at the core. Especially when left in stock form.
If he is a car enthusiast, it seems like it is more important to him to sell the joke, than to express any enthusiasm toward automobiles.
Some of his stuff on late night was humorous. But they said today that the Tonight Show lost 2 million viewers since he started hosting it.
Excuse the ignorance, but what happened to Jay Leno?
He retired. 19 years is a long time to do one show.Originally Posted by F3ARED
