Old man and his old car

Well, bought this 1972 240Z with a 280 engine about 1.5 years ago. Finally retired an am getting it ready for the street...
The body is as I bought it. I have added a 4 barrel and headers....Next need to finish exhaust.
Currantly working on new body seals and cleaning out interior.
Is supposed to have Turn6 springs and Koni shocks from the 1980's when it last ran.
This is how it looked when I got it.

    Added rear disc brakes
Soon to be added: Bad Dog frame connectors and single point jack plates.
Has a 4 point bolt in roll bar that I need to add a cross bar to for shoulder harness mount.
Want to add 5 speed sometime.

Funny thing is, a friend heard that I bought this car and gave me a 1973 240Z basket case because I gave him a turbo 400 tranny years ago.
May turn that one into a V8 beater....

    What goes around comes around.......

Looks like a solid car. Keep up the posts. We would all love to see how it comes.

It had a mess of a turbo with draw thru 4v setup when I got it... Got rid of turbo and went with used Arizona Z intake with Holley 390cfm 4v carb, used headers (MSA?)...
Working on interior, wiring, updating cooling, etc....

Any updates? Doing a classic resto or are you building a track car?

Not much done as of late... Just putting on new body seals and touching up little rust spots, mostly surface so far...

Car will be kind of a resto-mod.... Will keep much of the 1980's stuff already done like the 2800cc motor,Turn 6 springs, bolt in 4 point roll bar, A/C, molded in spoiler and fiberglass hood....

Have updated to rear disc brakes and will add new radiator with electric fans, Bad Dog frame connectors, re-do interior, exhaust, re-do A/C, modify roll bar to utilize 4 point harness, etc....

Wife wants me to build a tow bar to drag it behind motorhome for trips...

I want to do some track days and autox but this one is not a dedicated race car....

I have another '71 basket case that may become a track car if it doesn't sell before that...

I really like the body painted headlight covers but am looking for ideas on a better "quick release" type attachment so I can use them during day and have a fast/ easy way of getting them off for the night time....

    Any ideas ???

Try aircraft style Dzus fasteners. Quarter turn on / off.

I would not tow this behind an RV unless I really wanted it to get all rock chipped. Maybe on a flatbed trailer?

I tend to agree with the towing thoughts.... Am trying to convince wife I need to build a beater VW bug for that...

Small dzus fasteners may be my only realistic option. Thanks

Nice car. What are your plans for the old turbo kit? Is it for sale?
