Allan Moffat, multiple Australian Touring Car Champion and Bathurst legend once drove Fords. In the early 1980's he switched to the Group C Mazda RX 7 PP. Japanese driver Yoshima Katayama co -drove with Allan at Bathurst in 1982 and '83. Following these campaigns the team headed to the US with the cars and competed in many races, including Daytona.

Allan is making his third visit to Dowerin, Western Australia (about 160km NE of Perth) on August 24th and 25th. He will be one of the VIP visitors to the annual Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days. Allan hails from a similar farming area in Canada and is keen to get up close to the modern machinery. He is also the VIP at the Motoring Arena, where fans can meet him.

Allan is also involved in the development of the Wheatbelt Motorplex project. This is a planned driver training, education centre and a 4km long race track, to be constructed to V8 Supercar standards. The Motorplex is to be built at Dowerin.
