1977 Mazda 929 Coupé facelift in France.

    Hi everybody,

I just bought a Mazda 929 1.8L SOHC last saturday.
I posted pics in my introduction. I will add more later !

It's in pretty good shape according to me, except for the front end of the car which requires some bodywork (rust, front valance and bumper are bent).
It's complete, interior is in very good shape, just needs a good cleaning.

My biggest problem is that one of the previous owners had dismantled the carb(Nikki carb apparently ?!), why ? I don't know !

I found this carb for sale on Ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

Do you think this one is ok for replacing the old one ?

If someone has the same model as mine, can he take a picture of the carb mounted on the engine ?
Maybe somebody has one for sale also ?

I will start the restoration when the engine will be running.

The weber will probably fit, but i think it's pricey and don't think you'll gain much, and you'll lose the hot air intake which keeps the carb from freezing up in winter.
Nothing wrong with a properly tuned nikki.

Looks like yours is missing some parts (acceleration pump, some linkage, fuel inlet). You can get rebuild kits which includes the pump; I have spare parts incl. linkage and fuel inlet.. I'm in Belgium

    Hi Kv77,

Many thanks for your help !
It's pretty hard to find infos about old mazdas so i appreciate a lot ! :tu:
I think my carb is complete, i have few others parts that are not in the pics.
I have to find a kit to rebuilt it. I found some on Ebay motors.
Not sure they fit 100% ! If you have some links, i'll take them !

For the Weber kit, it's not for the perfomance, i just wanted to know if it fits the 1,8l SOHC engine.
If i can't rebuild my Nikki i will maybe try one.

    I ordered mine here: http://www.nardek.com.au/40-1.htm

Was about 40 euros, shipping included. Watch out for the kits you find on Ebay US. They wont fit. US carb and ignition parts generally won't fit european cars. It's better to look on Ebay Australia. Shipping is a lot cheaper too, and I've never had to pay import tax on stuff coming from Australia.

Let me now if you need help. I've rebuilt lots of these
