    Hardcore Toyota Crown Otaku Only!

A good friend from Japan sent to me from some typical boxed Japanese "omiyage" (gift) pastries. Initially, I was sort of wondering why he would send to me what a Japanese businessman might give to you when meeting. However when opening the box, I realized that this was not your typical gift when I saw the automotive themed outer wrapper. When I got to the inside, I was shocked to see the individual pastries wrapped with the Toyota Crown logo and the right Toyota Crown font in Katakana (Japanese writing). The pastry is a type of Manju known as Monaka which is sweet red bean paste wrapped with a flour wafer pressed into shape. Each pastry was in a shape of a 80s' - 90's era Toyota Crown with an exaggerated logo on the grille. It definitely made my day! I thought I'd share it with the hardcore...

BTW, this is the store that makes and sells them:

Could do that...but I think it'll smell up the joint soon with the beans and the summer weather...

Okay....tastes like sweetened mashed beans with some crusty stuff on it. An acquired taste....that I kinda like. I never ate a Crown before so I can't compare.
