setting static timing on a L16??

so i'm trying to set the timing with the car not running. I've got a timing light hooked up. no vac advance at this point. I'm cranking the engine by hand until the points close and I get a blip on the timing light.

I'm not sure where to set the timing , I've got it set to 10 BDTC because that's an average spot for most cars.

any one want to chime in with suggestions?

your about right most l sires timing is from 8 - 10 . 10 being the sweet spot . you should set it at 0 and then put it at 10 once the car is runing with out vac advance and around 800 rpm .
