cut everything from the external reg off. there should be a yellow wire w/ a fusable like and a black w/ yellow stripe wire. the yellow is charge and the black is ignition. none of the 3 prong shit is worth a damn anymore. just run your hot lead off the alt to the bat and an xtra off the small bolt to the bat also as a back up your charge light will always be on from now on cause the alt will be so under worked, until you try to jump another car then it goes off cause its working at load

OK i hooked up to the ignition wire black with yellow stripe.
ran it for 10 minutes then n oticed the alt. was to hot to touch .So just shut it down.
also the idle was going up and down??
pm me your email, i will send you the wiring diagrams. send me some pics of how its hooked up and i can trouble shoot it. it took me 3 weeks of staring at the alt and wiring diagram to get it right but now it works great. we will get this puppy worked out
