    Fender mirror installation help...

I just received a set of mirrors for the fenders of my car and am not too sure of how to mount them. It looks to have a guide screw, but the thing that throws me off is this set has the spring that comes down off the base and the base is a silver/metal rectangular piece that, I assume all goes on the inside of the fender.

Could someone please help me out with some sort of step-by-step with install?

    Thank you in advance!

Yes, all that goes inside the fender. Take it all off, drill the mounting holes through the fender, snake that long stud through, then reassemble it all inside the fender. That silver metal plate rides up against the bottom of the fender (on the inside).

The spring is there so that if someone walks by and accidentally bumps the mirror they won't break it off.

Also, if there's a plastic/rubber "gasket" at the base of the mirror itself, obviously that goes between the mirror and the fender, not underneath. :tu:

I guess it'd be easier to do with the fender off, yes?

Maybe, depending on car, how tight is the room under the fender.
I've never had to remove a fender to install one, yet.

Easier, yes. But when you add up the hassle of removing the fender plus the mirror install, compared to just the hassle of the mirror install with the fenders on...

I usually keep them on. 8)

And if these are going on the Civic, what are you going to do with the Napolean/Phantom mirrors you're taking off? 8)

The only problem I encounter with leaving the fenders on is the wheel well gets in the way of moving about. I'll check out in a few, though.

    take off your wheel first..

if you decide to take off the fender, keep in mind you measure were to drill the holes with the fenders still on the car.

This is exactly what I did. This enabled me to NOT have to remove the fender after all.
