    '85 Supra Celica Questions

    Hello guys!,

There is a good deal locally on an '85 Supra Celica hatchback. I really dig the early 1st gen. look!

How well does the early 1st gen. Supra handle? Would it be a good car for autocrossing?

Does anyone have a diagram of the rear suspension layout?

Where are some good places to get parts? Could I get parts thru the local Toyota dealership?

Who are good suppliers for 1st gen. Supra bushings, springs etc?

    Thanks for the constructive feedback!

    Go Jarno & Timo!!

Yeah, come on over to Celicasupra and look around. heads up though, use the search button, some of the old foggies can get cranky if you don't  MkII Supras are great for autocrossing. They don't suffer from the weight problems that the later MkIIIs and IVs do. The 5M is a decent engine and can give some decent Torque numbers with basic mods. A better bet would be to find a 7M and either swap it in or build a 6M frankenstien. All these questions and more can be answered over at Celicasupra, but don't neglect us over here!!

Thanks for the info Okie! The Sooners should be favorites for the National Championship in football with all the returning Seniors.

Well, lets hope they do better than the last couple of years if they make it that far... They don't have the best track record in the bowl games.

If I understand the question correctly, the 2nd gen Supras will handle better than the 1st gen, and are about the same size. A 1985 model will be a 2nd gen Celica Supra, not a 1st. With the 2nd gen, you get independent rear suspension and LSD. Having a MK2 (2nd gen), I think that is the one to get if you want more options for parts and upgrades. CelicaSupra.com forums will have answers, and yes, do poke around and use search when you are new. There is so much information, and the forum is super easy to use and well organized, once you get the hang of it.

CS is a great source!! Search can sometimes be time consuming in finding the right topic...Finding a fellow owner with the same yr Supra is helpful as there are some differences.

Steve for example owns a '82 which is unique to 2nd gen Supras and who is a wealth of info and has links to manuals on his sig..

    Re: '85 Supra Celica Questions

Many of the vendors on CS.com can get those parts...

One of my favorites is Classicgarage.com for hard to find or NOS parts...we get 10% off using "supragroup" in the discount code. I just got a set of NOS Bilstein rear shocks for a decent price...

Other favorite for generic parts is RockAuto.com and they offer 5% off at times...
