    1964 Daihatsu Hi-Jet L-35

Here´s some info about the beast that interests me most :

    2-cylinder 2-stroke 350 ccm 17 hp
    3-speed full syncro gearbox
    RWD
    12 v electrics
    ladder frame
    independent front suspension
    rear live axle
    12" wheels

    lenght 2990 mm
    width 1200 mm
    height 1400 mm

    curb weight 540 kg
    max payload 500 kg
    total 1040 kg

For best of our knowlege it was the only one in Sweden, bought from second owner and brought to Estonia in 10.07.2010 with full intentions to frame-off restoration. Little surface rust but no rot anywhere, many dents although. Drivers door is in the box but no glass, needs headlight ring and taillight, maybe some more tidbits. And yes, everything works - it starts right up and drives and even brakes.

Pics will follow in next post.

Can anyone help me to find contact with the owners of Daihatsu Pick-ups on the sites below? Unfortunately i do not speak japanese so i cant get any information out of that site. It seems, that it is next to impossible to aquire the parts needed for restoration - taillight, headlight trim ring, front turn signal/indicator, hubcaps

the pages i am talking about:

one site that seems to have some spares

Amazing that it fits in a Chevy pick up bed. What amazes me is you have GM vehicles in Estonia, like the Cadillacs. I would have expected more Euro style cars and trucks.

Most of the cars here in Estonia are European and Japanese made, but there are a lot of American made cars too. Pickup and Cadillacs are mine by the way

What amazes me the most is, why isn't here really no feedback at all about the L-35, is this the only one left in the planet?
Or can someone point out the most possible directions to try and find some parts for it? Land, company, junkyards, etc, etc.

Because the sheetmetal bodywork I can restore, but its a hell of a lot harder to restore a half-missing and broken tail light for example.

Or maybe there is some other forum in the internet, that is more specificly directed to old japanese picup trucks(I doubt it, of course, or maybe its in japanese then, which I do not speak unfortunatelly).

We are really getting a bit stuck on those missing items and lacking a domesticated japanese guy who could help us to get some info or parts....

Any tiny bit of info helps, as I'm sure you all know.

hey do you know if there is another VIN or serial number on that truck?

I just bought one. The red tag in the engine bay was ripped off my truck

Unfortunately I don't have any ideas where it could be more than in that tag in engine bay. I can try to look around a little...

But in the meantime, post some pictures here of your car, please!!!
