    turbocharging 4g32b?

    have turbo for the motor.
    what plumbing to use for it (downpipe and intercooler pipes) and what parts to use for the turbo. have the kit already, just need some pointers. the motor is carburated. or is it even possible to turbo that engine? will a fuel injection conversion be necessary?

    That engine was sold in a turbocharged version in the Mirage. It was fuel injected with a very simple system. I would recommend getting all that you can to swap into your project.

    i'm thinking of doing the same mods to my 4G33..
    can anyone share more info about this..please?..
    cause i don't know crap about engines..

    @ old colt.. you seem to know tons about olskool mitsus..
    would be great if you would be kind enough to share some more of your experience on the 4G3x..engines..TIA

    I'll chime in as I have just aquired most everything that is needed for the swap on a belt driven g32b rwd.

    The manifolds bolt on of course. The turbo colt 4g32t uses the same throtttle body setup as a starion so you can just grab one off a 2.6turbo stairon.

    Turbo wise, you might as well not bother getting the turbo, it wont work unless you want the intake pointing into the firewall. Since the flance is ta triangle you cant turn the turbo around.

    My plan for the turbo is easy, just make a adapter for a td04 ot td05 turbo or whatever I find. Preferably something mitsu.

    So in chaning pipes the crossover really isnt needed either.

    You will need the oil pan or modify an exhisting one and the oil filter housing as it has the place for a oil feed line on it

    Luckily wiring on these things is basically the exact same as a starion.

    In fact. I talked to a guy running a eclipse 4g37 1.8l head on his fwd turbo colt with a 86 starion ecu and injectors on a 4g32turbo engine. The catch was he was running a 4g32t MAF. I guess it works. Seems like it wouldnt but who knows. I have a 86 colt fsm withthe ecu pinout and it looks like the pinout for a colt ecu and a starion ecu are the exact same. Ignitore is the same as the tps and idle stuff.

    Another piece you will need is the turbo distributor.

    Oil feed you can take off the car or make your own.

    The water feed line off the colt runs off the side pipe that runs around the side of the engine. You dont really need this as you can figure out another place to run the water feed from. or just braze in your own hard line in a omre convenient location. Return line you will need to use your own. I think one off a stairon may work, or just plumb it in on the radiator hose somewhere.

    Talking to some turbo colt guys most of the starion modding is the same as the colt, like using a 1g maf etc...

    boost wise I dont know. I assume the stock pistons have cast rings so they wont take a whole lot. I am willing to bet the turbo colts had chrome and moly rings like the starion and possibly different pistons with larger ring lands.

    The original NA G32 pistons are a T slot oil wiper. They are weak.

    As for the rods and crankshaft, They are very similar to a 4G63. Same bearings, crank itself is a bit more stout in areas.
    The rods are a bit longer than a G63 but have smaller piston pins. Otherwise are equal in strength.

    If you change the pistons out and have good pins , put the boost to it just like a G63. But with stock pistons I would stay conservative.

    Back in the mid 70s, Accel corporation made a turbo kits for the G32 in the Colts. At the time they claimed about 300HP. Pretty much unheard of power in those days.
    I got to drive their test car, The car pulled third gear as well or harder than my car pulled 1st! The power was impressive. The car used a draw through 4 barrel that was up by the right headlights. Driveability was a bit less than we would call horrible these days.

    Only the turbo moutning and cross over pipe or intercooler piping if you run a ic. Frankly most of the hard work is done like the fuel injection portion. But, yeah it isnt a direct bolt on. I suppose you could make it one but I;d have on iudea where you would run your mas abnd intake pipe., Through a hole into the passenger side floor lol
