    71 Honda found in museum.

Although Its not my car, I thought others might like to see it.

I found it at Portland Vintage car club's museum. Its Located in Victoria, Australia.

Ive never seen one of these before and thought it deserved a pic taken. It looked like it had been driven there, still had the dirt around the tyres.

It had a badge saying Honda 1300 on the side, but that pic didnt work out.

    Enjoy.

Cool! I heard this car was for sale, now I don't have to travel to Portland to see it!

    Cheers for posting it.

my first thought was "wow, that body would be ideal for drag racing."
please don't hate me. i can respect the appeal of a totally stock classic, but if i ever got my hands on one, i'd make it wheelstand.

    haha

Glad I could be of service.

It reminded me of a Mazda RX4. Similar lines, and I guess similar age too.

I cant imagine it would be a powerhouse with an aircooled 4 cylinder. Prob low maintamance though. Looks like its ready for rally or autocross.. Those were some chunky tyres on it.

116 hp out of 1300cc they WERE a performance car & definitely not low maintenance with 4 carburetors & twin-spot calipers on the coupe '9' performance version, heard comments of them eating clutches when released in Japan too since they were Hondas biggest car yet.
Being front wheel drive they were reputed to be a little understeer oriented when they went rallying though.
There was a good website on them: http://www.honda-1300-coupe.com/index.htm

    Dry sump eh?

    quad carbs?

    Air cooled?

Sounds a lot like a motorbike engine.

it does make sense, since they were very early in car production and back then lacked experience in car engines, so it is understandable that they put their wealth of experience in bikes into what was then new territory for them
