    My 1984 Toyota Crown

Thought I'd share my current project car, as listed in my sig it's getting a hart transplant. This was my first car ever, bought used in 1990 with 69.000 Km on the clock. Currently has 385.000 Km and it's still running well, though the engine is a little bit tired.

This is how it was back in 2008 when I decided to revive it after 3 years of neglect.

After filling tires with air, topping fluids and a thorough wash.

The donor car in the background.

This is the original engine, the carburated SOHC 12-valve 2.8L 5M that currently moves the car around.

This pic is a bit yuck, but that's the DOHC 12-valve 3.0L 6M-GE as it was in the donor car.

And this is the DOHC 12-valve 2.8L 5M-GE out of a CelicaSupra that will donate the block and head going into the Crown with the 6M internals.

What has been done so far on the car is a completely new steering system (steering gear, tierod, tierod ends, balljoints, idle arm), original alloys restored, front rotors/pads and brake booster from the donor car and wheel well undercoating. Some more pics:

I'm currently doing the rebuilding on the donor engines, will update with some more pics as they become available. What I have planned (besides using the 6M-GE crank and rods to stroke the 5M-GE block to 3.0L) is to do some light porting to the head, raise compression a bit more by using the 5M-GE pistons with the added stroke (6M-GE pistons are slightly dished), put on an intake and finish off with a header and custom exhaust.

The most recent pics of the car:

Hope you guys enjoyed a little bit.

Why don't you just put a 7m in it, instead of stroking it.

Probably because I have an unexplained love for the twin cam 12-valve engines.

You can check with people that import parts from Japan if they can locate a set. These wheels are standard equipment on the 7th generation Crown Royal Saloons (MS123 and MS125). Don't know how popular they were in the UK back then, it seems that in Europe and the UK these Crowns mostly got wheel covers, unlike Japan and Australia.

I like it, must have some sentimental value to you. Looks like you kept it in good condition too
