hello, subaru noob here. just got my first one.

I picked up a 76 Subaru dl. its been stuffed in the bushes for the last few years, and acquired it as a b-day present from a friend a month ago.

The day i brought her home, 2 flat tires, a truck load of trash inside, a couple of mice nests, and every type of bug you could imagine, was making this car there home.

Its home now, i gave her a bath, inside and out. Fresh gas, and a battery she runs like a champ. and i removed the ugly diving board bumper.

lowered!!! and cleaned up the wheels.

i painted the cowling, and the hood. I added fog lights (will be yellow eventually)

    and one night shot.

Thanks! i plan on making it my new DD. so i can sell my 240 to pay some bills. Ive been researching the cars history and found that im the 3rd owner. its a very low mileage car for its age at 43000 miles, so it runs drives and stops like new. my plan is to make the coolest car i can, without spending a lot of money. so far i haven't spent a dime.

    holy cow.
    I have never seen one.

the oldest I ever saw in my locale was the first ea81 wagons (they got popular as fast as they rusted to broken)

awesome find. that engine must be worth a mint.

    :tu:

I'd drive one. It seems the farther subes go back in time, the tougher everything gets in design.. the rust was the only thing that got worse.

    some interesting facts:
    1990 legacy WB: 101
    1987 GL wheelbase 97.2
    1976 GL: 96.7

all with a 59.1 inch stance...
it is to say, the 76 would out handle a new subaru (seriously)
not many put the facts together.

    keep that old buggy good.

The body looks in pretty good shape from what we've seen so far.

Nice subie. My buddy had a blue one of these for a commuter car in college. He drove it from Redmond, Wa to Pulman every other weekend or so for 4 years. That little car ran so well, for what it was. I had a '84 Gl wagon and that thing was indestructible.

Hahaha, you have to keep the "Front Wheel Drive" badge in that fancy font. I love it!
