Yeap, on the money a Mazda 800 ute, I'd say around the 1965 era. Looks to be fairly complete.

Send a pm to member japaneserestorer on here. A good friend of mine and a expert on all things Mazda and small in the 1960's!

Certainly is an 800 utility, also known as a Familia in Japan which is why you cannot find out much about it. The 800 model designation refers to the 800cc engine. These are getting quite hard to find now and this one appears to be in quite reasonable condition considering it is probably 45 years old.

That is, apart from the bent front bumper (wrong anyway as the ute version was never chrome) and the dodgy bonnet mascot which is not Mazda.

These were sold in Australia from 1965 until May 1967 when the 1000cc engined version (of this shape) was sold. As you are in Brisbane as well if you need any advice or bits feel free to PM me. I have both an 800cc and 1000cc version of this shape ute myself under restoration.

    Neat machine!

This one dates from Showa 45 (1965). 780cc, four-speed manual, no ABS. Pity that, otherwise, I might have bought it. Neko.

Looks to be in decent condition.....would make a cool mini-rat ute. Straighten out the front panel, get a new bumper, do something with the wheels, whitewalls and lower it, that's about all I'd do to it.

I would leave the paint exactly as is....shows age and character.
