    The Rarest "Toyota"?????

Stumbled across this sales brochure this afternoon touting the Toyota Cavalier! It seems Toyota imported Chevy Cavaliers to Japan during 1995-2000 and rebadged them as Toyotas. The car is the same as the U.S. version except it is right hand drive, has JDM spec tail lights and mirrors. The cars were made at the Lordstown, Ohio plant. I wonder how many were produced and if any found their way back to the U.S. from Japan?

    It's a Chevy!

    Toyota Cavalier
The 1995 era model was briefly sold in Japan by Toyota, under a company agreement with GM, badged as the Toyota Cavalier, with some notable differences. Besides the fact that it was right hand drive, the Toyota Cavalier also featured a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, different taillights (with amber turn signals, per Japanese regulation), power folding rear mirrors, side marker lights on the front fenders, and carpeting on the inside of the trunk lid. These parts are hard to obtain in America (as they were made by GM but owned by Toyota) but remain highly desirable among hardcore Cavalier fans. The Toyota Cavalier was first sold in 1995 and were sold up until 2000.

Knew about them, Toyota also had some deals with Holden that resulted in oddly badged cars...

Yes, over here the wonderful Holden Commodore VN/VP/VS range known as the Toyota Lexcen, named after Ben Lexcen(main designer of the winged keel thingee I believe) after we managed to pinch the America's cup yacht race in 1983.

Also rebadged the Corolla AE92/94 range known as the Holden Nova( I remember the add for them was sung to that tune 'gotta get a holden Nova')

The Camry SV21/22 range also copped a Holden rebadge being the Holden Apollo.

All three were one is the same vehicle, only really cosmetics changes made the difference.

Plus what is the go with the guy on the cover of that brochure??
