Should I Buy a 1977 Celica GT Liftback?

    *EDIT*

My neighbor (who owns a custom shop) bought it, and he's going to restore it. I've been given the option of working at his shop, if I skip pay, he'll sell the car (when completed) for 1500 to 2200 depending on what all needs to be done. He seems fairly optimistic about the prognosis on this car.

I'm gonna wait until the car is done, the bodywork is underway, and I decided that it should be Sky Blue with matte black rally stripes.
    .................................................. .................................................. .......

I found one near my house for $1000, should I buy it? It runs well, and needs a small amount of bodywork and a paint job.

I'm a Datsun and Honda man, I'm clueless about the value of old Toyota's. This GT looks decent, and I just got done drooling over some picture of one in Sport & Exotic.

So should get it? Yes? No?

It's a 5 speed, black paint, burgundy interior. 18" BBS rims and fairly beat up Falken tires. The interior s a little tired, the bumpers look like hell, and the headlights on the drivers side are missing.

It has an upgraded engine (the 20r that was in it was replaced with and early turbo engine) That's about all I know

As if my screen name doesn't give it away already... You would be foolish not to be all over this like white on rice, like a pig in slop, like flys on poo!!!!!

I will also chime in on the request for pics.
