    Engine

Anyone familiar with the 9R engine? Are internals similar to 18RG? Like cams, piston, con-rod, etc.

    No, a 9R is a 4R with a twin cam head.

    9R
    The 1.6 L (1587 cc) 9R was produced from 1967 through 1968.
It was essentially a 4R with a DOHC head designed by Yamaha. The cam lobes activated the valves directly via a bucket over shim arrangement. This same arrangement was used on the 2M, 8R-G, 10R, 18R-G, 2T-G, 4A-GE and 3T-GTE engines (all designed by Yamaha).
Output was 110 hp (82 kW) at 6200 rpm and 101 ftlbf (136 Nm) at 5000 rpm. It was a 2-valve DOHC design.
    Applications:
Toyota Corona RT55 Corona 1600 GT hardtop

Yup, that's a 9r. Can you PM me how much you score the engine? I think finding a period correct corona will be my choice for this engine.

Let me know what you find out about parts and internals. Oil pan looks nice.

Wow, I haven't seen another one of these engines since my friend Mike Clark shipped his 1600 GT COupe back to the states. He owned a Yellow Coupe.

    Cool Engine. Thanks for sharing.
