    Tore's RS50--->MS50 4M engine Swap +ms85 diff/driveshaft

hey! im currently in the process of taking a 5R out of a rs50 and putting a 4m in!
here si a pic like the day after we bought it.. ( last year)

    4M-tailshaft,diff donor car

both engines out and on the floor

    diff comming out

    no rust at all

    such clean

    going out

    both out

    got the handbrake loose

    new diff in

put the tires on and found out i needed to shorten a stag to get it in the right place... the mount for this stag is 2,5 cm to the left

    perfect

got the tailshaft mount in ( i only need to drill 4 holes) and the tailsaft in, engine in, need new engine and gearbox mounts then its just electrical and small issues..

    Re: RS50 to MS50, 4M/tailshaft/diff from MS85 project

    motormounts done

dad bought us som stuff.. new exhaust, brake fluid, cooling, filter, brake shoes, wiring, motor oil.. etc..

painted engine mounts and some more and stuck engine back in

moved the coil and fuel pump to teh left side, and mved the wiper fluid container to the right, going to move the battery case to the left aswell..

freaking everything is on the other side...! extended the dynamo cables and the coil, got a bit more to do..

    first startup!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4-AyXZJK5M
    cleaned the carb

botled the fuel pump and coil onto the fender, the wiring looks messy but i had to toss it over there because i was going to make the battery tray..

after some discussion with my dad we decided to use the MS85 radiator, so he want on and made it fit..

original vs ms85 radiator.. looks good!

i tink i need to stiffen this bar somewhat..

    Re: RS50 to MS50, 4M/tailshaft/diff from MS85 project

when i got home from a school trip yesterday i found out that dad had done a lot, he had fixed the throttle, changed brake shoes, fixed the clutch , gearboxmounts, cooling etc.. so then we put some lights on it and had a test ride need to adjust the ignition its backfiring a lot!
soo.. i started working to get the grill on the car, to do that i had to modify the hood opner, since the radiator sits 5cm ish more to the front we had to turn the hod opner arround... but then the grill would not fit and the wire had to go on the other side.. so i made a lever instead..

going to stick it out through the grill

needs to do something with it to be less pointy and sharp..

    oil cooler mounts

    looks good

painted all the bare metal and mounted the whole grill.. but the badge is missing, it needs something there its so empty...

    Re: RS50 to MS50, 4M/tailshaft/diff from MS85 project

Looks great. I am thinking of doing a swap of either diff or gearbox so that I get a better ration for when driving on highway. What options are there for a MS55 2300S from 1970?

    Re: RS50 to MS50, 4M/tailshaft/diff from MS85 project

an MS55 i'm not shure about, but in this case the talshaft from the rs50 did not fit the 4m and teh tailshaft of the 4m did not fit the diff, so i had to swap the entire driveline...
decided to polish teh wheels, before pic

i NEED to get a badge in the grill, it looks so empty

new brake pumps for the rear..
