so I was driving my '96 Grand Prix home today at about 70mph

when I noticed a slight vibration in the steering wheel and thought, "huh, wonder if I have a tire going bad......?".

I made it home, turned into my drive and my $250 hoopty would go no further  !

a ball joint fell apart which then caused the CV shaft to pull out of the tranny.

I've already picked up the replacement ball joint ($19.95) and am planning on installing it tomorrow  !

    A SLIGHT vibration??

So on the balljoint much have gone earlier in the journey but it was just the CV joint holding the suspension together, and when you did the sharp turn into your driveway the CV joint finally called it a day?

Wow...you're lucky there wasn't more damage!

if a ball joint gave out while you were driving the z, I say it would not have turned out (no pun intended) NEAR as good  :tu:

Wow, have you never checked your balljoints? Checking the front end is like the very first thing I do when I buy a car, especially a $250 car, lol. And yes, those tires look done for as well, lol.

Glad you made it home okay!!!!
