Show me 1970's period racing cars and parts.

Show me how a Japanese car - either in the USA, Australia, Asia etc, would have looked in the 1970's.

By this I mean wheels, seats, steering wheels, gauges, signwriting etc.

I've decided that the project in my head needs big Katayama style RX-3 flares, deep dish wheels, etc. But I need some ideas with what period gauges, steering wheel (Momo Prototipo?) and other "bits". Ducktail spoiler, front fender mirrors and some sort of chin lip are also on the cards.

^ what are the flares on this Skyline? I think I'll skip the oil cooler out the front though.

The tacho is the heartbeat of any race car dash, and is there a better period looking tacho than the classic Smiths 10,000rpm unit with the adjustable redline?

And some more Smiths goodness from a 1971 advert.

More of the Smiths classic range here.

As for steering wheels, I always think the classic three spoke design just works. Plenty to choose from.

    Nardi

    Moto-Lita

Even the daggy old Aussie made SAAS units look good.

Although quite frankly, on a Mazda, do any look better than the RX-3 one?

As for seats, would something like this suit?

    Retrimmed old Corbeau seat.

Kameari GT S30 seats (very expensive!!!)

Period Jap cars would more likely have used Yazaki gauges

Yazaki gauges? Hmmmm (off to google them).

I have a RX-3 style wheel like the one you posted Dazz but it doesn't have the rotor logo on the horn pad, which means it came off an 808 coupe I think.

I love those Kameari seats. I think I'll get something similar and ditch the Cobra Daytonas in the car.

I'm also trying to find a bootlid spoiler the same as this RX-3:

    THis thread has potential!
Hey Dazz, who retrimmed the old Corbeau rally chair?
I've got one that needs this treatment!

Fuji Island Trimmers in Vancouver BC apparently, maybe too far away to send a seat lol

I just found it on the interwebs with some dude rebuilding a Datto 510.

its a good concept, and a cheap way to save an old car. me and a mate turned this from a rusted piston capella, into a fake racer with rotary power in 3 and a half weeks.
