    1978 SoCal TE31

I felt the need to post some pictures of my 1978 Corolla Deluxe. 2TC with 3-speed AT.

After a few months of working on her whenever I had free time, she Passed!

First day I brought her home

    When I first started tinkering

After cleaning some stuff up and a quick tune-up. Had an exhaust leak and a bad starter so I have the manifold pulled in the picture. I ended up putting in a 4-2-1 manifold and pipe from a 3TC.

Most recent picture after passing smog

Cleaned off 30+ years of tags to reveal a 1979. Had to take a picture before I covered it with the 2014.

She made a friend during the smog test. 1979 TE51. Almost went home with it as I was offered a good price.

After passing smog I feel like I can pour some more money into this project. I'm hoping to work on suspension next and eventually I want a respray. The PO painted over the factory silver and there are a lot of areas of overspray, it bugs me. Hopefully I'll have some updates over the next few months.

Glad to see another TE31 here. Your car is a lot like mine.

Yeah! I've been following your thread, you've been doing some good work. Is your car originally red? My car was 128 silver, but the PO had it painted red.

Looks like a very sound base.
She should turn out real cool... 8)

Hmmm... shame you didn't pick up that TE51! They're getting pretty rare and that's an awesome colour for it.

Yeah I wish I could have, but being a grad student I just don't have the cash to spare. It would be nice to have an SR5 too. It was pretty clean. I have his number so I can still try and buy it.

    Update: Deuces are wild.

Hit 22,222.2 on the odometer. If previous owner was truthful, that means I'm at 122,222.2.

Side note, I need to adjust my AT shift linkage. The gear indicators don't line up and sometimes the car won't start because the car is not fully in park even though the indicator says it is. So, I have to get under the car and try and tackle that tomorrow.
