Hey guys, this is the story of my Mazda 929.
I started a new job about 6 weeks ago and about 3 weeks into my new job one of the ladies I work with notcied the tattoo on my ankle a Mazda RX2 Rotary Badge.
We started talking about cars etc and I told her I own a 2002 RX7 FDS3 with the number plates DRKNYT (Dark Knight). She asked if I liked "old school" cars and I straight away said yes!.
She told me that her grandfather who is 96 years of age owned a Mazda 929 1976 model and that he bought it brand new from factory in 1976.
She also informed me that the car has been sitting in a garage for about one year as her grandfather is in a nursing home and her grandmother who is 94 cannot drive.
I strated to feel sorry for such a beautiful car sitting there for so long and not being loved. So I offered to buy it.
I spoke with the grandmother and asked if she will let it go for $1000 AUD, the grandmother said yes.
Two weeks ago I went to have a look at this car, mind you I had the money on me, I was ready to buy it no matter what state it was in.
The grandson was there to meet me at the house were the car has been sleeping for about 1 year, as the garage door opened I see a 1976 Mazda 929.
To my surpise the car was in factory conditon, the seats looked brand new, the dash looked brand new, the car its self looked brand new.
I open the glove box and I find a original Mazda Manual and original log books with service history dating back to 1976. Its a one owner car which has driven 233,000km.
I started to feel nostalgic, it was asif I was in a time capsule, I had the biggest smile on my face.
The car would not start so I towed it back to my house and had a look at the engine everything seemed fine, even the engine oil was clean.
I decided to replace the battery with a brand new one and $120 AUD later the car started with a few pumps of the accelerator.
I am happy to say the car, service wise is perfect. I drive it around everywhere and I feel like I am in the 70's.
Everywhere I go people point and stare, I start to feel like I own something special.
So here is my 1976 Mazda 929 Sedan.
