1985 Toyota Cressida Luxury Wagon Build

Well, I've owned this car for a few years now, and I'm ready to start doing something with it, so why not throw up a build thread to track progress?

She keeps my 73 Corona Wagon company.

Found this car on Club4AG and couldn't say no. Previous owner was joshiroku, he did a great job with it. Started off as another minty white Cressida wagon, interior is amazing.

Josh did some nice work, making it a daily-able clean car. Front is on coils, rear is on bags (no on-board compressor). Wheels are XXR with some nice dish. They work for now, but I'm looking for some SSRs for her. It has an intake and exhaust, nice sound system, 12% tint in the back 30% in the front, tranny cooler, tow hitch, and is just an overall clean, fun, reliable car.

175k miles and climbing. Still reliable enough to drive to work (70 mile trip). Love Toyotas.

Here's the bags zero'd out vs. inflated (for state inspection, lol):

With no air, the car has some reverse rake. If I were to keep it like that, I'd have to wind down the front coils a bit. I think I'm going to keep them aired up half-way though, as my spine can't take the hits these days.

Driveways are fun when the bags are empty, luckily the tow hitch takes the hit. The pavement in front of my driveway has many battle scars:

Notice my neighbor has the old Japanese wagon fever, too.

She's been pretty much in storage for the last year or so, but last weekend I got her our, put some air in the bags, re-tinted the front (couldn't pass an inspection, heh) and refilled the AC system. I couldn't be happier cruising around town. She always turns heads and gets comments.

    Future plans include:
    • New wheels (eyeing some SSR mesh, would like to PC them white)
Bagging the front and getting an on-board compressor
      Rolling the fenders a little
Fixing the rear bumper (have two spares ready for paint)
      Nardi
Throw on a spare NOS JAF emblem
Clean up some small trim issues

That should just about do it.

Here's her last weekend at the farm:

Haven't seen this since it was at Josh's! You are right- this thing was in VERY good condition. Josh and I have always seen eye to eye on car projects, my Super Datsun, his Carolla, etc. Sweet find for sure! I have missed his recent work on the AE86 with the Ford turbo 4 since I moved.
    Best of luck!

Josh finds the cleanest cars, it's insane. Also, that new 86 he's building is AWESOME.

Not much work going on with this car, but it's still giving me stress-free fun.

Finally tracked down a set of quads:

Have a GX71 front bumper on the way to match the quad headlights, looking forward to getting that all together.

Here's a pic someone took at Houston Coffee & Cars earlier this month:

Are the quad lights and grill from a US model Cressida?

Yeah those quad headlights are from a 85 or 86 Toyota Cresta.

Beautiful wagon man I have two white MX73's myself.
