    Karina's Daily 73' RT81 (Frankie)

So about a year ago the girlfriend needed a new set of wheels and with me be such a tight a$$ the budget was small...

We looked around and found some cars that were easily going to do the job but lacked any personality. The frustration almost got to us when we found a Datsun 180B wagon in perfect condition and the seller was more than happy to let a guy who rocked up while we were trying to buy said datto to start a bidding war. It was a nice car but I wasn't about to get suckered into paying $1000's more than I should. Not meant to be I said and I'm glad I did now.

My first car when I got my licence was a bright orange 73' KE25 coupe and I loved it. Unfortunately I sold it to buy a busted a$$ R31 Skyline which I regret to this day. I still know where my old rolla is and one day i'll make an offer too good to be refused.

This back story leads into the day I saw our RT81 for sale on gumtree... bright orange 73' and those rims, i was hooked instantly. I must give credit to the young bloke who we bought the car off because he put those rims on.

The best thing about our Corona is that is gets driven daily.

They love to be driven. Are you planning to do any work to the car or drive it as is? Looks good so far.

For the next couple of years its going to be a case of looking after the car with regular servicing and enjoying driving it. Cleaning it all up and refreshing stuff is the main priority.

In a few years however a fresher engine with a snail hanging off the side is the idea.

Anyone ever tried to find a Cam Gear for a 12R engine... it's impossible and now I find myself in a position where the old girl is off the road due to engine failure and options are aplenty.

    Photos to follow, stay tuned

The rocker cover isn't camo... its just dirty

How much room do i have?

Plenty of room apparently... LS1 swap?

41 years on the original engine... not bad really
