    my 1968 RT52

just picked it up last weekend. trying to decide whether to do a full factory restore or more of a resto-mod with a Beams 2.0L/6spd conversion...it'll be a long term project either way.

I would not bother with the 3RC. Beams might be too extreme in my taste. I have an 18RG in mine as I like more old school than new stuff. either way, enjoy and make sure to upgrade the brakes and diff. and suspension and etc etc etc.... just like what happened with mine.

    I have a 67 4 door auto.

I just planned on doing an updated R series, 20R or 22R doesn't need to be fast.

    If I find a good deal I would make a 4AGE fit.

Needs brakes and steering restored though.

A BEAMS motor would be a great idea! The sky is the limit for good applications though. F20c, 4age 20v blacktop, 3sgte. All are great choices. The beams motor is a neat idea though. Depending on cost i would say. The s2000 engine is a really great engine though. The full swap including transmission all the necessary wiring etc is between 2500 to 3700. So depending on the cost difference to a beams i would consider it. The output of the f20 or f22 is significantly higher. I really like nicely restored classics with modern engines. It is just really nice to have a cool old car with out the headaches of an old car. Cold starts, fuel economy, powerbands, replacement parts. Everything benefits from ditching weird old low output engines. But hey, to each their own.

beams and 6spd would be sweet. keeps it oem in a roundabout way.

otherwise full resto to stock specs though! a completely mint, stock looking car packing a 3SGE, 6spd, good diff and brakes (all good stuff where it doesn't show), stock interior down to the factory radio, crap seat belts etc.

yea, thats exactly what i have in mind. classic body in and out, but modern mechanical components all while keeping all in the toyota family (i work for them too so that's a plus). that's why the S2000 wasn't really in contention, as solid as that platform would be, it's always seemed wrong to me when hotrodders swap other makes' engines into their projects like a 2JZ in a silvia or a chevy in a ford.

I understand. I hold no allegiance to auto manufactures when it comes to that sort of thing. I only try to hold allegiance to regions. I like to promote those that pushed their technology to the limit. I feel like for the na 4 cylinder honda wears that crown.
