1979 Honda Civic CVCC "sort of" restoration...

Didn't realize I hadn't put this on here yet. here goes:

1979 Honda Civic CVCC. I bought the car in 2006 and drove it for a week before the engine blew. Below is what it looked like the day I bought it.

I let it sit for over a year before I decided to jump on it. I found a 1.8L EK-1 engine and had it swapped in, brought it home and lowered it. Then I added the Japanese fender mirrors (which are stock over there).

At that point I sent it to the shop for the bodywork. The car was sanded all the way down to the bare metal for a complete overhaul on paint work. During this time, I had accumulated the "ever hard to find" 12" chrome trim rings and had the factory 12x4 wheels painted high gloss black.

And, after replacing the cracked and cut dash to a new dash, complete with stock AM/FM radio and deluxe gauges....

I am left with this.....so far. It is a primer state right now. It is charcoal gray with a semi-gloss clear coat on top. The car is sitting in the shop now awaiting a Weber downdraft.

Here is a pic of my 1974 Honda Kick-N-Go that is being restored right along side.

Whoops! Sorry about that. I forgot about those. I was trying to find a complete thread with all stages in one. I am about to be updating here in about 2 months and just wanted one thread to showcase all the work from start to finish.

    I apologize.

No worries. At least all of the threads contain different information. :tu:

Yeah, this way I won't be making more threads out in the GENERAL KNOWLEDGE section. I can just update this thread.

I can't wait to show it, lolol. The next step (in January) will be finishing the interior. Having the seats restitched and the carpet laid down and the radio hooked up and that will be done.

awesome! I like that pic with the paint spots and the background in black and white. Have you thought about clearcoating over that kinda thing and leaving it like that? IMO it'd be sweet :tu:

Seats are getting ready for the move over to the upholstery shop for new guts and skin. Doing a completely different look from what you see below. While the seats are out for renovation, I will be putting down new carpet and at that same time, running new wire from the stereo to the rear pocket speakers (rare for this car). I am going to hardwire my Sirius receiver to the back of my radio so that it stay hidden in the dash and I will have the factory AM/FM radio and still be able to listen to whatever I want.

Below are the seats/carpet now. Also the dealer option rear pocket speakers with the Honda logo embossed on them.
