    Buying a 1owner celica coupe

I currently debating of buying an all oringal 1980 celica coupe gt 5spd it's a one owner car with 44000 miles on it! It's never been driven in the rain it's fully loaded with sunroof included he also got a stash of nos parts mainly caps rotors brake pads pretty much everything that's rubber related under the hood of he car it as even rust proof but there are no signs of rust anywhere he looking for someone to take care of it (its techinlly not for sale)do you think it's worth 3000 grand?please let me know thanks
He has all the papers to go with it

I'd say so. That's a great price for the car if you love it. I doubt you'd lose money on it if you ever sold it.

Where in Ohio are you? I've got a Celica of the same vintage, we should meet up sometime.

I see. I'm up in Mentor/Painesville...east side of Cleveland. Hit me up if you're ever in my neck of the woods.

Easiest way to tell on '80-'81 cars is to pull the speedo out of the cluster and check the mileage on the o2 sensor's mileage drum. It is not visible from outside the cluster, I didn't even know they existed until I swapped my 85+ mph unit for a 120+ unit. They have microswitches that trip the sensor light after so many miles. If the car has had the odometer roll, the mileage will not be the same between the two drums...

wow, thumbs up. that's some good info.

i would also really take a look at the interior. you can definitely tell a 44k mile interior vs a 144k mile interior. unless he took the effort to swap out the seats, cluster gauge, shift knob, shift boot, carpet (clutch and gas heel), etc. there are some good tells.
