Detroit Hako Update! Work in progress

Decided to attack the underbody of the Hako over the pass couple months.
You never know what lurks bellow the surface. It was nice to expose the good, the bad, and THE UGLY!

Overall not bad, Getting ready for a little POR 15 but need to take care of some spots first!
Both rails under doors have some pin holes. The worst rust area is behind the driver side rear wheel...

    Before Sanblasting!

    And the spending begins!

New Bushings, New Bearings, New U-Joints, New Diff cover gasket... Damn hako wants me to get another JOB!

Cutting these bushings out not to bad after you know what the heck your doing. Newbie requires extra Research time so I dont mess anything up...

And more sanblasting and more sandblasting my damn driveway looks like a beach front

After blasting, Marine clean, Metal ready, then POR 15 with a top coat looks pretty good so far!

It's always a case of, "I'll just look at this and see how it is...ok, I'll treat this bit. What's that over there, I'll treat that as well..."

    It never ends lol

But now that it's done, and done right, you'll always have peace of mind.

    It looks great! Nice work

That is a solid looking car to start with. Looks good so far. The Hayashis are sweet! I do understand the draw of the watanabes. Do you have any plans for upgrades while you have it apart? LSD, axles, brakes?

Jncr- No upgrades yet, R180 for what I'm going to be using this car for is fine, Next year brake upgrade all around, Rear disc conversion...
Car is overall pretty solid just want to take care of rust issues seen and unseen now.
