  • CRX mugen resurection

I going to present my car
it's a honda crx 84' (DX in Europe) but when I started to restore it...
I found a lot of rust damage (classic on this car) ... :?
so I decided to change the sens of my restoration..
I had remembered a picture of a strange one CRX with stickers everywhere and the colors of Mugen
I looked after a maximum of information on this car and I start work in April last year
you can imagine ,this kind of project is not the easiest but I'm not at my first restoration (3 vw bettle,1 vw type3)

the car when I found it..

    and this the project....

        Hello rsjapan!

Great project and looking forward to updates.
I tried sourcing a Mugen bodykit from Japan a few months back with no luck. Were you able to find one?

If not, these guys do a 'reproduction' kit - http://www.housemanautosport.com/crx.htm

        Cheers :tu:

          Re: CRX mugen resurection

thank you I bought my body Kit to Housemanautosport
          but...it's very complicate to fit it (no plan/no brace/ no support/ no...thing..)
you will see it in my next pics...but it give a good look
so I continue my presentation...after sanding...I start to repair the body
          the A pillar (before)

          the A pillar (after)

          the floor (before)

          during

          after

          the floor (passenger side) before

          and after

          and all finish...

          it's better no ? 8)

Amazing work! Wanna come over and do my Celica? Looks like a super clean shop, and it looks like you have a few cool toys to play with while you finish the CRX...

                Re: CRX mugen resurection

after 1 month of adjustment of the front face
it's very complicate because there is no plan, no supports,no arms, nothing for help to fit the body kit :?
I must create all this for install it

after I fitted a roll cage and welded a bar and created a frame for the fuel cell (RCI from Jeg's)

and finally when all was welded.... I cutted the rear fenders

                      Re: CRX mugen resurection

ok after cut my rear arch fender
I started to build the copy of the original dashbord...
with cardboard, I made a template and after 30 hours,
the dashboard is relatively close to the original isn't it ?

a pic with my kevlar's sparco (same as the original) and my NOS mugen steering wheel

and here the dash bord finish..

                      the original

but I think I will remake the front panel because I found the true gauges (stewart warner)
so I'm going to change the Autogage's gauges 8)
