Ain’t Nothin Civil About It

ciic.jpg If you’re a fan of the old skool Honda Civics and were worried that you might be alone on that one, you can rest easy.  Civic 77 has all the information and community you could possibly need.  There’s some damn nice examples in the members gallery too, so check it out!

Rain, Hail, or Shine

Nothing will stop the JP Auto Enthusiasts getting through. The boys at JNC have dug out a link to a recent car show in Japan, the likes of which not even a hurricane could hold back. Personally I’m not sure I could stand to bring my pride and joy out in that kind of weather - despite their having been designed to handle that sort of thing just fine. I just don’t think I could do it. Nevertheless, I’m glad these dudes did, because we scored some great classic JDM (and a sport of Euro) eyecandy as a result. Hop to it.

(Even more) Cool JDM Clothing…Part 3 (and counting)

433_top_logo.jpg

Last month, we covered a few nostalgic JDM clothing brands which embrace old school cars and bikes:  Samurai Motor Club and Neighbourhood.  And yet there is still more….Kaminari69, which has the same old-school hot rod influences with 60s cars and vintage graphics. Although Kaminari doesn’t seem to have a cool flash movie on their website like the other two!

The Constant Pursuit of Perfection

Alright, so that might be Lexus’ slogan (is it? Jeez, I don’t even know!), but it just as clearly holds true for the guys at Classic Motorsports Online. Back in early 2005, they purchased a 240Z in reasonable condition as a project car. Their plan is to keep it relatively original - a plan made easier by the well preserved body - while updating whichever components may need it, or may simply make for a better car. Head on over to their project blog to check out their progress.

Before There Was The Intarweb…

japanese-restorer.jpg …There was the grassroots, self-published enthusiast magazine. If a car didn’t have a dinky photocopied magazine published about it (undoubtedly from some fan’s back room), it clearly wasn’t a car worth owning. Japanese Restorer is one such magazine, though it did a good job of surviving well into the Internet age, with its 14th and final issue being printed last year. Never fear though, the publisher assures me there are still quite a few back issues left, so get over to his website and order a bunch. Order the whole run!

Nostalgic Trio

In a hilariously well conceived parody of Nostalgic Hero magazine, Craig’s website about his three classic JDM projects takes the form of a blog nestled behind that great idea for a front page.

Chronicling his efforts to get not one, not two, but three classic Japanese cars out of the backyard and onto the road, Nostalgic Trio covers three classics with fantastic potential: a C110 Skyline, a CSP311 Silvia, and an S30 Fairlady. Craig plans to update the cover page every couple of months - much like a magazine - so be sure to keep an eye on it!

The Hot Olds, they like to Meet.

hot-olds-meet_shizuoka.jpg

Earlier this year, an event called Hot Olds Meet was held at Shizuoka, in Japan - where else. I’ve spent the past hour salivating over hundreds of images, and I figure it’s my civic duty to share the booty with you lot.
