Jet-Powered Honda Z600 On the Move, Its Side

Last year we reported on this mysterious Honda Z600 with a jet engine protruding from where its rear window should have been. Armed only with some badly translated German, we boldly predicted “that any attempt at turning during full throttle in this thing would be [verboten] as well.” Well guess what? We called it! We called it! We called it like 1-800-Collect, baby! Ok, so it turns out you didn’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that a Garrett JFS100 turbine strapped to a kei car was not going to be a handling monster. And these imaginative Nee Zeelanders laugh in the face of rocket science, as well as in the face of their friend rolling over somewhat anticlimactically. Check out their videos here and here. And you thought this was the only jet powered Honda.

Kiwi Classics Cruise

newzealand.jpgOk, so we don’t know much about New Zealand except that some movie about Lords and Rings was filmed there. But we do know this: If those orcs had rode into battle on any these absolutely killer old bombs, they would have been wiping the floor with those elves. From the Oceania bureau, dear reader Snoozin brings us photos from the inaugural Oldschool.co.nz cruise that took place over the summer. A while back, yes, but his name is Snoozin! The important thing is, he posted them, so that we could have a look at their Isuzu Bellets, Toyota Crowns and Suzuki Frontes. Good on ya, mate! Thanks for thinking of us Yanks.

Brunei Toyota Guy

Ok, we’re not going to complain, even though it’s taking ever fiber of our beings. We promised we wouldn’t. It’s just that in Toyota of Brunei has, to celebrate their 40th anniversary, held a contest to find the oldest and best maintained Toyota in the country. The winner, of both the $1000 prize and the most difficult to pronounce name, Pg Rosli Pg Hj Bakar, took the top spot with his 1970 Corolla 1200 (Note: Car pictured is not Mr. Bakar’s actual car. The article had no accompanying photo). In fact, the two runners up were also Corolla 1200s.

The only other thing we know about Brunei is that the sultan of the oil-rich nation reportedly owns an enormous collection, hundreds deep, of exotic cars, many of them custom built Ferrari and Aston Martin wagons. He allegedly owns so many Rolls Royces that the company sends a rotating team of mechanics to Brunei just for his garage. We wonder if he rocks any nostalgics in that fleet.
