This is going to be an expensive week for endocrine organs because this 1974 Mazda RX-4 is as mint as they come. The pre-facelift RX-4 is arguably the prettiest of all the early rotaries, and it’s hard enough finding an example in any condition.
This one has an interior as white as the clean fallen snow and still wears plastic sheeting on the rear panels and sun visors. The dash is shiny, the suspension paint is still largely in tact, and it comes with both the original steelies and hubcaps, or a set of factory Toyo Kyogo alloys. The only downside is that to obtain your precious, you must retrieve it from Mordor New Zealand, where it currently resides. But hey, when you’re paying $20,000 what’s another couple thou for a boat ride? More photos after the jump. (more…)

Datsun 1200s of any condition are rare enough, but gaze upon the minty freshness of this 1972 example of the USDM Sunny B110 on craigslist. According to the seller, the previous owner worked at a Datsun/Nissan dealership for 33 years. Everything is in supposed perfect working order like it was on Day One. This Florida orange sure looks clean enough from the photos, and considering some of the prices on “ran when parked” 1200s, $15000 doesn’t really seem that ridiculous. More photos after the jump. (more…)

Kyuusha Dealership Found Outside of Japan: We’ve seen plenty of nostalgic car dealerships in Japan, but this is the first one we’ve heard of on the outside. Sadly for us ‘Murrikins, it’s still on the other side of the ocean — Christchurch, New Zealand to be specific. But it’s a start! Check out the post on Retro-Classics.

Hold on to your H-shaped hood ornaments, dear readers. You’re looking at a record breaking, potentially history making, piece of J-tin here. At the Barrett Jackson auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona yesterday, the value of this 1972 Honda Z600 Coupe went up to $27,500 when the gavel dropped. But our sources say that a year ago, this was an $8500 car that wasn’t even running properly. How did it more than triple its value in such a short time? (more…)

At first, this 40,433-mile 1985 Subaru GL surprised us by popping up in Phoenix, Arizona. What does a state need with a quirky, all-wheel-drive hatchback if they don’t even know what a snowflake is? But it makes sense that such a cream puff would only survive in a winter-less wonderland. Northerners bought these to drive into the ground, and most Yankee Subies have been returned to the earth in flakes of iron oxide. (more…)

This immaculate 1977 Toyota Celica hails from America’s Dairyland but you won’t be getting any swiss cheese here. The seller says it has never been driven in Wisconsin’s harsh winters and contains absolutely zero sheetmetal dings. It has most of its dealership documents, the original tires, and only 14,105 miles! Look at that sumptuous tan interior. We can smell the vinyl now.
Okay, so it’s brown. But we dig the retro hue. Slight more inexcusable, however, is the three-speed slushbox. Luckily, Celica firewalls come pre-drilled with a small plate for the clutch’s pedal-to-master pass-through. In other words, a manual swap is 100% reversible for judging at Pebble Beach 2025. More pics after the jump, or see it on eBay. (more…)

The seller of this “barn find” 1979 Mazda RX-7 with less than 39,000 miles on its rotary engine canceled all bids and stopped the auction on New Year’s Eve. But if you’re a fanatic Mazdafarian it might not be too late to track down the Norwood, Massachusetts dealer and get your hands on an ultra-minty first year Series One.
The best part? This cherry Seven relaxes in the showroom while a fleet of Ferraris freeze their tailpipes off in the snowy New England winter outside. (more…)

We just had a shortened work week, but there was no shortage of low mileage nostalgics suddenly up for grabs. The only problem is deciding between the wedge-shaped pocket rocket that is this 39,000-mile 1986 Toyota MR2, undiluted driving experience of a bone stock 63,000-mile 1971 Datsun 510, cachet of a rare 80,000-mile Toyota Corona Mark II, and savanna-pounding potential of a 48,000-mile Mitsubishi Lancer/Dodge Colt.
We really need to get that black market organ harvesting thing going. Which babied gem would you choose?

We’ve seen low mileage Celica Liftbacks before (both yellow, oddly enough), but this is the first Coupe. According to the seller, this 1974 Toyota Celica had just one owner for the first 34 years of its life. When he passed, the current seller acquired it in the estate sale with the plans of making it a “hot rod,” whatever that means. (more…)

The neverending assault on our internal organs just keeps on coming this week. This Vancouver, BC ‘72 Datsun 510 (see Craigslist ad here) has had one owner, a 77-year-old man who is now looking to pass his baby onto a younger caretaker. The mileage is high, at 129,000, but the owner claims it’s mint enough to sweep 44 First Place or Best in Show awards out of 44 shows entered, even beating out a Mercedes gullwing and E-Type Jag at some Concours event.
The only thing holding this blue Bluebird back is its slushbox, but the dictionary-sized stack of maintenance records from “day one” and turnkey condition must be worth something. And that something is $15,000 in the seller’s mind.
A bone stock 510 is a rare bird indeed. But is it 15 grand rare? What say you, readers?
