1976 Mitsubishi Galant GTO Brochure, in English
Mitsubishi announced today that they were all but killing off their Ralliart division due to the global economic slump. In honor of that once great performance arm, let’s take a look at the triple diamond mafia’s flagship nostalgic, the Galant GTO. Mitsubishi actually exported it officially to the UK of all places, and JNC reader dwlee even dug up the 1976 brochure.
Note that the official name is the Colt Galant GTO 2000GSR, and that the UK subsidiary is simply called The Colt Car Company. The catalog makes a big show of the 125hp 2.0-liter four’s counterbalancing silent shaft technology. And we also now know that the styling aesthetic is something called “Dynawedge.” How cool is that?

If you all want to see Ralliart at some of it’s finest, go rent “Thunderbolt” with Jackie Chan. it is available via instant download on netfilx if you have it.. early 90′s and so much ralliart you’ll blow your eyes out. although, terribly subtitled and horrible plot, the cars make the watch about 100x better than any fast and furious.

I’m not a Mitsubishi fan, but I feel strangely odd anytime I see a Galant GTO!
I think it sucks that the British got them. They didn’t even like Japanese cars back then!

Like the 74-77 Celica liftback is a copy of the Mustang fastback.. THIS car is a handsdown copy of the Celica liftback. Down to the shape, dual headlights, pillar gills and recessed taillights. How gay is that. Except the Mitsu prolly leaks oil and blows smoke like all Mitsus do. Pathetic imitation.

Seeing how the hatch/ or liftback “look” for the FTO or colt was on the market in 1971 http://www.toyota.co.jp/Museum/data_e/a03_10_4.html#2

I’ll take the bait. Pretty hard to be a copy 74-77 Celica when the GTO was released in Japan in 1970! Time travel perhaps? I understand that the designer (Mr. Hiroaki Kamisago) got his design cues (copied ideas from) from cars such as the Mustang, Firebird and the Cougar , whilst studying design in Los Angeles in 1967.
