Kidney, Anyone? Tomica Grand Prix Circuit

So Transformers not your style? Here’s our first open kidney offer that doesn’t involve an actual car. It’s a vintage Tomica Grand Prix Circuit set that we came across while skimming the Tomica Fan Club forums. Talk about cool… just look at that gorgeous box art, that beauteous orange plastic!

And look, whoever owns this set has denied themselves the pleasure of making vroom-vroom noises across it for decades. If we had to guess we’d peg this as coming from the mid-70s, but perhaps the hard core Tomica collectors can pin it down for us.

It comes with four cars, a purple Nissan 610 Bluebird, white Fairlady Z, green Celica and green Mazda Savanna RX-3. There’s something about these little diecast cars that look utterly vintage. Tomica still uses these castings, but the new ones just don’t look the same. Is it the wheels? The bright enamel colors? We don’t know, we just want it!

Thank you very much… Now I have the sudden urge to setup my vintage Fleischmann racetrack in the living room!
Anyone want to trade a Tomica racetrack for a Fleischmann?
BTW: is the Bluebird the only one having a towhook??
