The Hottest of Hot Hatches

Well before the likes of the MazdaSpeed 3 and the Civic Type R, crazy little funoboxes (hah, I totally just made that up) like the Starlet and the 310 were kicking around. I still see quite a few modified Starlets kicking around these days, and I’m sure there’s a lot of love for the 310 out there as well.

Auto Otaku has a short article, a couple of photos, and a video on the TS Cup; a racing series in Japan with a strong Starlet and 310 contingent. They look great, but even better is the video. The sound of these things… holy pants. These cars suddenly became a whole lot more appealing to me. Check it out.

Great stuff! Just can’t beat the sound of a screaming A series.

Just one thing though guys, but it’s a B310, not a 310. A 310 is the first generation Bluebird from 1959 or a badge worn by a US market version of the N10 Pulsar. The “B” is part of the chassis code, just as it was for the B210 (120Y), B110 (1200) and B10 (1000) that came before it. A small point I’ll admit but one worth making I think!
