SEMA 2017: Toyota brings fifteen Camrys to world’s biggest tuner show

We’re not sure if Toyota is trolling the entire aftermarket community, but Japan’s largest carmaker basically filled their entire SEMA display with nothing but Camrys. There were no tricked out Toyota 86s, lifted Land Cruisers, or slammed Siennas. Nope, just fifteen family sedans, including a lineup of every generation sold in America (the newer end of which looked like every Sunday afternoon parking lot in the San Gabriel Valley). The purpose of the collection seemed to be in support of the all-new 2018 Camry. Go forth and tune it, I guess.

UPDATE: Actually, what happened is that Toyota gave each of its NASCAR drivers a 2018 Camry to do build. Plus one for Rutledge Wood, who made the blue one. That’s a lot of Camrys.

Just goes to show that Toyota is the Buick of Japanese cars in America.

    Boring.

  2. Its about time, the previous Camry-generations get the appreciation they deserve.

  3. Mike in Long Beach says:

Well, I have read some very favorable reviews of the new Camry. I will definitely test drive one soon. If I can get past the front end styling I might even be a future customer.

  4. Cesariojpn says:

Yeah, this year’s showing was super depressing. From Corollas to Camrys.

Wonder if you guys saw the Nacho on the flatbed in the gold lot?

  5. Bob says:

    Good god.

I think it is time to sell my Supra and walk away from Toyota.

  6. Ben says:

Toyota couldn’t afford to build fun cars w/o the billions in revenue that Camry’s have brought in.

Like the GT350, thank the F150.

  7. Ryan says:

I’m just surprised that this many Toyota Camry were present and not one of them was involved in an accident.
