50 years ago this month, Honda debuted the N360 at the 1966 Tokyo Motor Show. To celebrate, Honda has issued a special appearance package for the retro-styled N-One available in Japan.

The N-One Suzuka Special, named after the Honda-built circuit in Mie Prefecture, takes Premium trim level N-One models and dresses them up in styling of hopped up N360s back in the day.

Honda calls it a “neo-classical racer package,” and it includes a prominent hood stripe, matching checker motifs along the rocker panels and edges of the roof, and tan leather seats. The grille, door handles, emblems, are also blacked out to match the color of its aluminum wheels.

Since the N-One is a kei car, horsepower is limited to 63 horsepower and thus there are no performance upgrades, unfortunately. If you’re interested in the drive itself, you can refer back to our 2012 test drive when the N-One debuted. However, the package does look pretty sporty and perfect for going on a photography adventure along Japan’s highways and byways decked out in accessories from the latest Racing Mate catalog.

It’s actually surprising the Japanese government hasn’t bumped up the kei category limits to be in line with global A-segment standards. If this had been designed with LHD and manual versions in mind for the Euro market, it would have me actively hoping for another spike in gas prices to bring it to the US.

This would be great for around town driving, the highways not so much, especially U.S. highways.

Not a chance you’ll see kei cars in the US. The Snart ForTwo is not a great seller, although personally, I like it. And the Scion iQ was a bust. And the Aston-Martin Cygnet (a better looking, but horrendously expensive iQ) was a non-starter.

Love to see these cars stateside in big cities, parking would be easier, and great gas mileage. These are better and cheaper than hybrids and electrics. Who needs more than 100 BHP if you are in traffic all of the time and average speed you drive is 35mph to 50mph. Very seldom do you need more power. Good handling, easier parking and less pollution.
