NEWS: Hakosuka Nissan Skyline crashes, one dead

A tragic report coming out of Japan says that the driver of a Hakosuka Nissan Skyline has lost his life in a crash that saw the car burst into flames. According to TBS News, the collision occurred on the morning of July 25 near the Harada Town area of Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. News footage from the gruesome scene shows the Skyline and the kei car it collided with pushed up against a guardrail and everything but the steel parts burned away.

A translation of the news report posted to Datsmo says that the Hakosuka was “going too fast, spun, crossed into the oncoming lane and hit the kei.” A fire then engulfed both cars, but it’s not clear where it started. According to police the 45-year-old driver of the kei car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but the Skyline driver wasn’t so lucky. He was trapped in the car and died at the scene.

As for the car, it appears to have an L-series motor, so it’s not one of the 1,197 two-door Skyline GT-R models. Vehicularly speaking, while it wasn’t as heartbreaking as the Toyota 2000GT that was crushed by a tree, the loss of human life in this case makes it far more devastating. Stay safe out there, fellow travelers.

A very sad end to the car and driver…

  2. Ant says:

Sad to hear the driver didn’t make it, but glad the driver of the other car was okay.

In situations like this the car is very much secondary, of course, but it’s a reminder that older vehicles need to be driven with consideration that they’re more vulnerable than newer ones in an accident.

sure it wasnt the passanger it is RHD and it looks like the p. side took the impact? plus seems like D. side door is opened.

  4. Samuel Ace says:

That is so sad. My thought’s and prayers are with him, his family and his Friend’s. God bless them. Rest in piece my Friend. This is so sad.

  5. LB1 says:

ivan, there was no passenger in the Skyline, it was just the male driver, who was trapped inside and died.

Sadly, it’s too common. Please, I plead, to taste your speed and racing on a safe track or course. Uncontrolled public roads and unaware drivers are deathtraps. I’ve been “challenged” to a race so many times in my car. Over the years, I’ve seen three of these guys get tickets right in front of me as the blue lights go by. I lost a friend under a semi trailer.

My thoughts & heartfelt condolences are with the fallen driver & his family.

I do agree too that it is a sad, but all too common sight on our roads. Sanctioned racing events, on properly prepared & administered race venues are the ONLY way to explore the limits of your car & driving skill.

In driving an R32 GT-R on the road I am constantly “challenged” by Euro & Muscle car guys/girls keen to try & skin Godzilla.

I know it is very, very corny but I always remember a saying Spiderman taught me as a child…………”with great power comes great responsibility”.

Please be safe on the road out there everybody. Respect your car & other road users, & also remember the possible consequences of your actions.

Please rest in peace lost Hakosuka driver. It is always a very sad day when another kindred spirit’s flame is extinguished.

We may have never met, but good bye our dear brother.
